But in my position, it'd be good to get a gauge of what draws people to the S series other than what I hear day in and day out..."everyone in my family has one and they love it" "customers come in asking for it so that's what I sell them."
Best phones I ever had. They don't crash, run smooth, feel good in the hand. Nice sized screen. There just isn't anything to not like, I guess.

When it comes to an Android phone, for me at least, it is either the Moto X or a Nexus. The Moto X just adds to Android and doesn't take away from it like Samsung and other manufacturers do with their GUI changes and added software that is useless to me. My Moto X (2013) has been a great phone for me over the past year. Hopefully, once Verizon finishes their LTE rollout as well as VoLTE, Google will make a all LTE Nexus that will work on Verizon's bands.

Thanks. Have you looked at any other Android phones? Or do you just wait for the new S series and go in to buy that?

What would you want a phone to have or do in order to get you to consider it?

Anyone have the HTC One M8? I was very close to making the switch to it a few weeks ago. I loved the build quality. I can't do Samsung. They feel cheap to me, but the Note 3 was ok. Way too big for my liking though.

I had Android phones prior to the S3. Don't remember what they all were but none were as good in build quality and the specs. I honestly can't say what I would need differently in a phone. A reliable phone that runs well and doesn't have to be factory reset often are the pluses in my book.

The new Moto X is pretty sweet (thanks again, sherm). My only complaint is that I wish it stayed at 4.7" but it didn't seem like it would take long to get used to.

The only thing that could potentially sway me away at this point is the upcoming Nexus.

Just saw that the original Moto X was recently released in 64gb. If the new Moto X was offered in 64gb I would buy it today without hesitation.

blurb today that Moto is releasing another phone - possibly in 3 sizes (4.6, 5.1, 6"?) - with pretty beastly specs. Sometimes the "mini" sizes have lower specs, but this one is rumored to have super HD display and 3 gigs of ram with a top-notch processor.

I read a rumor somewhere that the new nexus was going to be 5.9 inches. Just a rumor but that's crazy.

I saw the same and I'm not sure I believe it. That would be unbelievably stupid.

Yeah that's a bit excessive.

It's funny, because a lot of the IPhone owners I know have had no interest in Android, in part, because all the top phones are too large. So IPhone is coming out with their own "phablets", but they'll still have the 4.7" (which I suspect will be hugely popular).

The other thing I don't get is why Google (and Moto, for the most part) insist on forcing limited storage on us (no SD card and only 16-32gigs of internal storage). I know Google wants you to use the cloud where they can gather data on you to sell...but there are several reasons that isn't practical for many users.

A guy I work with went through 2 Moto X's when they first came out. He was super excited when it was released. His camera quit on his first one. The screen stopped responding on his second one. I was wanting to get the Moto X but changed my mind after he started having issues. Plus I just had a Motorola Bionic that went to crap after the last software upgrade. I couldn't even answer the phone half the time when people called me. To hang up I had to take the battery out of it.

I'd love for the iPhone to have an SD card slot, but it'll never happen. Would take sales away from their larger storage phones. Ghey.

Sure, and with 128gig cards out now it's my preferred option. But at least Apple give you an option of a phone with decent storage. There are many so-called "high-end" Android phones in recent years that have 16 or 32gigs of internal storage and that's it.

I think 16gigs internal is probably sufficient for apps/data/rom...and then there should be an SD card. That lets the user have plenty of choices as far as price/storage to choose from, because figuring 256gig cards are around the corner and we'll start rivaling laptops for us data pack-rats.

The other development I've seen bits and pieces of is some sort of new ram chips that not only present massive expansion there (like 8X+ the capacity on the same footprint), but can retain memory like flash storage. That will be a game changer, not just for phones either.

It's not just Google. It's the carriers too. Verizon has their Verizon Cloud and AT&T has the AT&T Locker. They want to be able to push customers to that so they get additional revenue. So I think it helps the OEM and the Carrier come to an agreement. The OEM limits the available storage (saves money on the cost and keeps the form factor thin) and the Carrier gets to push their storage option.

I'm reading a lot of rumors today on the Nexus X and they all seem to think Motorola is going to be making the phone.
