Did they also call grounding on the field? How can you review it and THEN call it?

Nope there was no penalty flag for intentional grounding. They called it a fumble (which the Jets recovered). They reviewed the play and ruled it was a pass and gave the Titans a safety because the ref said prior to the review that if it was a pass he would have called intentional grounding.

Just the whole thing doesn't makes sense to me haha. Hopefully sonofanump can come on a possibly give a good explanation because Mike Carey definitely didn't do that (no shocker there).

So basically, they "found" another penalty while looking at the video replay? Pretty sure you could do that on every down.

Yeah essentially there was intentional grounding on the play because it was pass. But they originally didn't call it pass and didn't throw any flag. So they shouldn't have been able to go back and rule it a safety was my understanding. But then Mike Carey came back on and said that some senior official for the refs told him that one of the refs on the field said prior to the review that if it was ruled a pass he would have called intentional grounding and so that is how they were able to call the penalty and give the Titans a safety.

That makes sense...why would they have called intentional grounding if it was ruled a fumble??

Makes sense that the ref would say it's a fumble so no grounding. Then on review it's a pass, so he "rewards" the grounding that he didn't call because he thought it was a fumble.

How did nobody get ejected in that Jets-Titans brawl? Geno literally got sucker punched in the face to start it.

Yeah that #95 was just punching anyone and everyone. He definitely should have been ejected.

Just watched the video. Props to mangold for coming out to defend his QB/teammate. Pretty respectful move imo. Also, lol at coming out without a helmet on.

Bengals definitely rooting for Pittsburgh next weekend. A Kansas City loss is much safer for their playoff chances. Unfortunately, San Francisco has been eliminated from playoff contention, so beating the Chargers might be a tougher task. Right now, we're looking at...

1. New England Patriots (11-3, at NYJ, vs BUF) - head to head over Denver
2. Denver Broncos (11-3, at CIN, vs OAK)
3. Indianapolis Colts (10-4, at DAL, at TEN)
4. Cincinnati Bengals (9-4-1, vs DEN, at PIT)
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5, vs KC, vs CIN) - better AFC North record than Baltimore
6. Baltimore Ravens (9-5, at HOU, vs CLE)

7. Kansas City Chiefs (8-6, at PIT, vs SD) - head to head over San Diego and Buffalo
8. San Diego Chargers (8-6, at SF, at KC) - head to head over Buffalo
9. Buffalo Bills (8-6, at OAK, at NE)

I think there are outlandish scenarios that would get Houston or Miami in, but it's a complete long shot, and they would all involve Cincinnati already being IN. After next week, with KC/PIT, CIN/DEN, BAL/HOU, the AFC will be down to likely 7 teams.

5-seed. Probably lose to Carolina or New Orleans in round 1.

Guessing

1. NE (13-3)
2. Denver (13-3)
3. Indy (11-5)
4. Baltimore (11-5)
5. Cincy (10-5-1)
6. Pittsburgh (10-6)

Something unforeseen will still happen (Cincy over Denver for ex)

Denver is banged up and really only needs 1 win or 1 Colts loss to get a first round bye. It's unlikely they get the 1-seed, but the 2-seed is pretty much 90% at this point, even if they lose next week.

Cincinnati struggles mightily in primetime games and surprisingly, they aren't great at home this year. We'll see if it's more of the same next week. I could definitely see the Bengals winning.

Well, Classy's last post was around 2:30 PM. Plenty of time to get his tailgate on outside of Ford Field.
