And then what?
We just leave another power vacuum?
Or, we create even more troubles and instability in the region?

If recent history has taught us anything, it is to really think long and hard about sending in large U.S. forces into the Middle East.

What should we do? I am not totally sure, but it should be some sort of drone/ SOCOM option and I do know large forces are not an option. The U.S. public, nor our military can sustain another large redeployment in the Middle East.

Having other risk their lives to fulfill your wishes isn't indicative of being a "*****" or not.

Regardless, could you lay out a semi-detailed plan of what action you would like the United States to take?

So what's the plan? Air strikes hoping we hit the right place? Risk killing innocent people causing further turmoil? And do we repeat this process when the next lunatic steps up to kill American hostages?

Sounds like the next hostage is a British citizen. So we can sit back and see how Cameron handles it.

What countries would you wipe off the map if you were President, and what would "wiping off the map" entail?

When you can't debate with ideas you resort to insults. Interventionist policies have failed in the middle east for 60 plus years. We can't seem to comprehend that occupying land, interfering with governments and killing civilians could possibly warrant someone to want to get revenge. I don't see how anyone takes these neoconservatives seriously anymore. Their ideas have proven to be a massive failure throughout history.

But hey two American journalists who knowingly went into a dangerous area were killed so might as well spend another ten years and trillion dollars to go back to war. You guys basically want revenge because you feel America's pride is hurt.

Also to totally blow your mind. I also think Obama is a bad president and have never voted for a democrat/liberal in my life.

My "pride isn't hurt"

These are really bad people. They destroy villages, raping the women and burying children alive. They murder innocent people because they don't see them as human beings.

It's not about pride it's about wiping horrible people off this earth.

How? I don't know I don't know a damn thing about war. But there's got to be a way.

You understand how this totally emotion based response is problematic right? I think everyone agrees the world would be better off if we could snap our fingers and get rid of these people, but it's not that simple. Saying stuff like "wipe countries off the map" which would imply killing thousands of innocent people to eliminate ISIS wouldn't make us any better than them.(I know you didn't specifically say this.)

Not to mention a stated goal of many/most of these organizations is to use heinous acts like this to draw the U.S. into a war that will cost money, lives, and help facilitate their recruitment of new generation of terrorists. So in a way it would be giving them exactly what they want and likely leave us with no fewer anti-west terrorists in 20 years than we had today.

But that's an honest post, kudos. I respect that reaction and think it would be unusual on some level not to react that way.

There are 15k murders in America alone each year. Plenty to women and children for a multitude of reasons. You will never cleanse the world of bad people.

I get the reaction that it is barbaric and disgusting what they are doing. Even if you accept my premise as to why they are doing it, it doesn't make it ok for them to do it. And if American national security was at risk. I would be ok with actions taken. As long as it was swift, powerful and gets the job done.

Well unfortunately I don't think they are interested in talking it out and I don't think the world will be at peace if we left the Middle East and kept our nose in our own business.

Yes. They don't GAF about us. Why should we care about them? This country is WAY too soft.....bunch of pussies, as I say. We're supposed to be this global "power" yet we have to be "diplomatic" and walk on eggshells with these fucks? You fight fire WITH fire. You want to kill the snake? You don't cut off it's head.....you blow up it's whole body.
