In my short time here, I feel I have been pretty fair with the ND program as a whole. However, it amazes me that they can consistently talk about the virtues of a ND education, coupled with the religous aspect of it, then come on someone's thread and act like complete dickheads!
Don't be like them. ^^^Clean it up

Go Bucks
Their typical fan is about as close to Notre Dame educated as I am in line to be pope.

It's a fine institution with enthusiastic fans, a small number of whom are inbred asshats like Rock.

Please don't lump us all together. We're not all like that and you know it. You have been fair and a good poster on here. Don't let one person change that.

Fact of the matter is......I do not like OSU the least bit. However, I don't feel the need to come on here and constantly tell you about it and bash them whereas there are some OSU folks on here sleeper, ccrunner, etc. who have an erection for Notre Dame and are constantly bashing Notre Dame. So when I see peoplerfunny saying "Don't be like THEM" I have to laugh because there are urinal cakes who can type on both sides and we all know that. Blanket statements about fan bases are illogical.

Did the congrats for OSU taste good coming out of my mouth? Not really, but they deserve it so I'll give it. If the shoe was on the other foot....I'd appreciate the same thing from an OSU fan on here. Remember "the golden rule" that I think most of us learned when we were little? It doesn't get any simpler than that yet so few choose to follow it.

Sure, I know Rock and we are from the same town, etc. Neither of us like OSU. That being said, I'm not going to co-sign everything he says if I don't agree with it. And in this case.....I don't share the same thoughts. And there was a facemask on that play even though it was an incidental one but I don't think that matters anymore in college because there is only the 15-yard variety now (is that right?). OSU won fair and square and there isn't one play that you can look at that changes that. It was a pretty good game and OSU won. I was rooting for Oregon yet I can admit that.

Congrats to OSU and their fans. Just because I don't like your team and some of your fans doesn't mean that I'm above giving you credit when it's deserved.

And DWC.....I hope that Kelly gets ND back to a BCS Bowl and they WIN! :)

That may be true, but if the DB is looking back for the ball when contact is made, he is much less likely to draw the flag. Besides, any decent DB who wants to go onto the NFL should learn to look for the ball. You can't catch what you can't see.
All well and good but NOT the point.

Herbie said emphatically that they will "call it every time" because you "have" to turn back and look at the ball.

He was wrong on both counts. There were numerous plays just like that one where the DB did not look back and nothing was called -- which is the way it should be in college football.

Just OK? Come on! You can do better than that!

And I'm not sure what a "tounge" is, but biting it could be bad for your health. ;)

Love it! Now lets see if all the pundits spend as much time praising Ohio State as they did ripping us...not sure there is enough air time for that. Lots of crow for them to eat and I love it!!!

Oregon didn't have very good looking cheerleaders for those half tops they had on, IMO.

OSU on the other hand has girls with the bodies for them and wears those hideous things that might as well be parkas.

I find it funny you guys don't realize there are going to be a small percentage of the ND fan base that is totally crazy.

I mean there is a small chance that some of them may be Irish. You are annoying the little lucky charms guys and they are getting upset.

Man oh man did Herbie look like the total ass he is on that play. He went on and on about how if the DB doesn't turn around, the refs will "call it every time".

He is DEAD WRONG.

There is no face guarding or rule in college ball that the DB has to be looking back. That is a PRO rule only.

What a douche he continues to be.

As for the facemask...yeah, it happened. It was brief, but he definitely got a piece of it. I have the game recorded and it's clear as a bell.
[/quote]

Herbie was at his usual annoying self last night. He kept saying how OSU proved they can play with the elite teams in college football, when in fact they've "played with" (but not beaten) elite teams multiple times the past 2 seasons.

Plus he kept saying JT was just going to be content with a FG and go up 5 that last scoring drive, like 2 minutes before Pryor's TD pass to Posey.

That and he had Masoli as an outsider candidate for the Heisman late in the season.

Other than that he's always right (lol).

Um, yeah, ok. Go to this link for the 2009 Oregon cheerleaders. Click on their face and it has individual profiles. Far from ugly.

The point about the facemask is that with the elimination of the 5 yard facemask, now, if you grab a piece of the facemask, it's 15 yards, automatically, not to mention his head did turn a bit, IIRC, and then the runner was taken down by the jersey.

That's not how the new rule works. The new rules is that it's 15 if you grab and move the head, merely grabbing or brushing the facemask and releasing without moving the head is considered inadvertent and nothing is called.
Face-Mask Foul (Rule 9-1-2-q). There is no longer a foul if any player grabs an opponent’s face mask without pulling, twisting, or turning it. The five-yard penalty has been eliminated. This change does not change the safety aspect of this rule. Pulling, twisting, or turning an opponent’s face mask remains a personal foul with a 15-yard penalty.
