Since taking the B1G/ACC challenge again, the conference has essentially sucked ass with fewer good wins than "WTF JUST HAPPENED IS THIS FOR REAL!!!???" losses.Laley23;1688109 wrote:At least Indiana beat Butler. Outside of that, absolutely BRUTAL day for the conference. Illinois did beat Missouri, but it was close and Missouri sucks.

That's all you got? Ha. Face it, the B1G has a ton of average teams this year. The SEC always stinks...but like B1G football, there's a deeper-rooted bias there.centralbucksfan;1688143 wrote:Yet both conferences still better than the SEC.
As for the B1G better than the SEC this year, I'll give you that, but it's NOT that much of a difference. I'd like to hear your argument...

Yeah, but some of what's going on is just weird. Michigan beat Syracuse (not as good as past Orange teams, but still respectable) and now can't beat anyone. We all knew MSU wasn't what they had been, but losing to Texas Southern? Nebraska being one of the top teams based on last year and who was coming back and they lost to Immaculate Word.Azubuike24;1688138 wrote:..and the challenge really only proved that the bottom 5 or 6 teams in the ACC are terrible.
Yeah, the Challenge proved what everyone besides the most diehard ACC homers knew (the B1G has a lot more "middle of the road" balance and isn't the "top heavy/bottom sucky" conference they are), but the way some teams in the B1G have just fallen apart in the past few weeks is essentially making that look like a lie because a balanced conference loaded with average teams doesn't just start getting beat by Division I bottom-feeders left and right.

Some numbers to back up my statement. I'm going to exclude Kentucky and Wisconsin, as I'm sure you will argue UK would skew these overall numbers. Top 50 wins, top 100 wins vs losses to 100+...
SEC - 5 wins vs top 50, 16 wins vs top 100, 16 losses vs 100+
Florida (none)
South Carolina (1 vs top 50, 1 vs top 100, 2 losses vs 100+)
Arkansas (1 vs top 50, 2 vs top 100, 1 loss vs 100+)
Georgia (1 vs top 100)
Alabama (1 vs top 100)
LSU (1 vs top 50, 1 vs top 100, 1 loss vs 100+)
Texas A&M (2 vs top 100)
Vanderbilt (1 vs top 100, 1 loss vs 100+)
Mississippi (3 vs top 100, 2 losses vs 100+)
Tennessee (1 vs top 50, 2 vs top 100, 1 loss vs 100+)
Mississippi State (4 losses vs 100+)
Auburn (1 vs top 50, 1 vs top 100, 3 losses vs 100+)
Missouri (1 vs top 100, 1 loss vs 100+)
B1G - 8 wins vs top 50, 17 wins vs top 100, 9 losses to 100+
Ohio State (none)
Michigan State (1 loss to 100+)
Minnesota (1 vs top 50)
Maryland (1 vs top 50, 2 vs top 100)
Iowa (1 vs top 50)
Illinois (1 vs top 50)
Indiana (2 vs top 50, 1 loss to 100+)
Purdue (1 vs top 50, 2 vs top 100, 1 loss to 100+)
Michigan (1 vs top 50, 2 vs top 100, 2 losses to 100+)
Nebraska (1 vs top 100, 1 loss to 100+)
Penn State (1 vs top 100, 1 loss to 100+)
Northwestern (1 loss to 100+)
Rutgers (1 vs top 100, 1 loss to 100+)
It's not that different. Mississippi State is God awful. KenPom has the B1G 4th and the SEC 5th. After the Big XII, there's a huge drop off and then 2 through 5 (ACC, Big East, B1G and SEC) are all pretty close.
The 2 worst losses? Not surprising, Michigan (20) vs NJIT (293) and Michigan State (12) vs Texas Southern (283). Actually the greatest disparity losses since he's been keeping statistics, both at HOME.

And to boot, outside of 1 or 2 teams, show me a B1G team that is actually playing a great schedule? OOC schedule rankings?
Michigan (92)
Wisconsin (94)
Michigan State (133)
Rutgers (140)
Nobody else is in the top 225. Everyone outside of Wisky basically has a padded record which is why teams like Penn State (11-1), Maryland (10-1) and Purdue (8-4) looked like contenders...

There is no denying that the B1G 10 sucks. Look at the horrible losses many of which were home losses. Last night, Nebraska loses to Hawaii and Purdue loses to Gardner-Webb. The beat goes on.

Barn burner in E Lansing. Maryland up 17-14 at half. Each team with more turnovers than made field goals.

Well, came on here to post how I am excited to watch Iowa @ Wisconsin tonight. Then the Badgers hit three consecutive 3s as a type. So....13-4 early, Wisconsin.

Unless they're playing Ohio State, Iowa is not good.

Doesn't make up for '02...but welcome to the B1G, Maryland.
Hoosiers on fire tonight, led by uogi Ferrell with 25 on 10 shots (7/8 from deep).

No secret I've been hard on him and, to be honest, hated his coaching.centralbucksfan;1698972 wrote:IU fans worst nightmare...IU doing well and Crean looking better.
He has admitted some of his faults and really changed his style this year, to make up for them. Have very few complaints with the way he has coached the team.
And to be honest, Stevens is the only guy is be convinced is a home run hire, and he wasn't coming so quick into his Boston gig...despite how much I want to belive he would.

Id agree. Some teams in this conference are hard to match up with like an Iowa.Laley23;1699726 wrote:Over.

I don't think it will be that bad, but many of the "big" B1G games this year have been massive blow outs in favor of the home team.

Indiana has nobody to guard kaminski, or dekker/Hayes (depending on where Troy goes). And Blackmon is out...

Think this will be what Wisconsin does to osu too. Their size will just kill osu
