6-2 B1G right now. Win 2/6 today and they win the challenge again to go 4-0-2 after the ACC dominated the first decade of it.

UNC isn't UNC, yet (I think they will be damn good in February/March), but big win for Iowa.
Their win and the PSU win gives the B1G the 8 wins needed to secure another victory in the challenge.

That was an awful game. Iowa went 8-33 in the 2nd half.
Great win for the Hawkeyes and Carolina just continues to not be able to score. It's hard to watch at times.

I was only able to catch the last 12 minutes. But, yeah...UNC is bad on offense. They seemed to be 10x worse once Meeks fouled out.wildcats20;1681904 wrote:That was an awful game. Iowa went 8-33 in the 2nd half.

Meeks is going to be an absolute stud by year's end, if he can stop the dumb fouls.Laley23;1681911 wrote:I was only able to catch the last 12 minutes. But, yeah...UNC is bad on offense. They seemed to be 10x worse once Meeks fouled out.
He should lose another 10 pounds throughout the year. His transformation is crazy.
But sticking with the topic, the B1G is going to be tough this year. Iowa, who was picked in the middle of the pack, could definitely make some noise at the top. Minnesota, now buying into Mini Me Pitino, will be a really good team.
OSU has some work to do, as does Sparty. But I expect both to be playing well come February/March.

I trust Izzo to have a solid team, but I just dont see any kind of talent on that squad.
Its a little disconcerting, that the B1G went 2-5 in ranked games. But, overall I agree. Should a another year of a really solid, deep league.

Agree about MSU. This might be Izzo least talented team. His teams always get better, but this team, like many teams, is only going to take them as far as the talent. And there really isn't much there compared to past.Laley23;1682083 wrote:I trust Izzo to have a solid team, but I just dont see any kind of talent on that squad.

2-5 vs ranked..I haven't taken the time to look at who has homecourt advantage? As we all know, that plays huge part.

So, 1-3 on the road and 1-2 at home. One of the home losses is kinda shaky in the aspect that Maryland's best player (and the sole reason they were ranked and would have been given any sort of realistic shot of winning) was gone, so Virginia winning should have been a foregone conclusion.Laley23;1682102 wrote:Iowa (W) @ UNC

I don't know how Vegas picked things, but looking at the list of games, I'd have gone with the B1G being 3-4 or 2-5 in those seven games (Michigan, Michigan State and maybe Wisconsin as favorites). In general, goes with what I'd have expected. With their expansions, the ACC has a few more teams at the top, but is still the top-heavy conference they've always been; while the B1G is more consistently quality from top to bottom with fewer complete duds.

I only know about some of yesterday's games since I bet on them here is what Vegas said on those:Heretic;1682120 wrote:So, 1-3 on the road and 1-2 at home. Duke +4 (So Wisky -4)
Iowa +8
MSU +3
Virginia -5 (So Maryland +5)
Virginia Tech +8.5 (So PSU -8.5)
I also don't know what the spread was but the over/under in the GT/NW game was 117.5 lol.

Ohio State was anywhere from an 8 to 9 point underdog as well.Iliketurtles;1682124 wrote:I only know about some of yesterday's games since I bet on them here is what Vegas said on those:

So, looks like MSU was actually "underdog via being the road team", while Wisky was favored by 1 neutral. Which would still keep it in the projection being about 2-5 with Wisky and Michigan likely being the favored teams (ie: the two home teams not playing without a top guy). Because in the three you didn't bet on, the B1G team was on the road against a higher-ranked opponent, so they'd have to be underdogs, I think.Iliketurtles;1682124 wrote:I only know about some of yesterday's games since I bet on them here is what Vegas said on those:

Notre Dame has more talent than MSU...that probably played into it as well lol.Heretic;1682130 wrote:So, looks like MSU was actually "underdog via being the road team", while Wisky was favored by 1 neutral. Ill take Demetrius Jackson and Jerian Grant all day over Dawson and Denzel. Throw in Pat Caunnaughton and their top 3 is way better than MSU.

Grant is the best player on either team by a long shot, but personally I'd take Dawson, Valentine, and Trice over anyone else ND has.

Grant got hosed big time last night too. Should have been at the line at the very end of the game.

I was at the Duke/Wisconsin game last night. Great game, great seats, but Duke just shot lights out. UW didn't appear to be contesting shots the way they normally do--Duke's athleticism showed. The game was closer than the final score indicated.

Michigan about to go down at home to SMU. Much better than NJIT and EMU. But, 3 OOC home loses...ouch. Gonna have to REALLY make hay in the B1G to be considered for the tourney.

Right now, I think it's safe to say that, other than Wisconsin and 3-4 teams that will suck, everyone in the B1G will be around 10-8 or 11-7 in conference play.Laley23;1687988 wrote:Michigan about to go down at home to SMU. In defense of Texas Southern, they have lost to Eastern Washington (beat Indiana), Indiana, Tennessee, SMU, Baylor, Florida and Gonzaga. Now, they got pounded by every one of those teams, but still.

Iowa getting beat up pretty good by Northern Iowa. Too bad UNI doesn't play Iowa State. Purdue lost by 31 to Notre Dame...yikes.

Michigan State with an underwhelming start to the year yet again. That's an appalling loss. Texas Southern was 1-8.

At least Indiana beat Butler. Outside of that, absolutely BRUTAL day for the conference. Illinois did beat Missouri, but it was close and Missouri sucks.
