They do this in DC as well and I find it obnoxious. For a big party it can't hurt to at least provide two checks. Some asshole restaurants here only allow a certain amount of credit cards per receipt too. This has led me to scrambling to find an ATM once.

If it's a very large party, I definitely get "only one check." I just don't like this whole, "everybody pay equal!" Ghey.

I'm loaded so I usually just pick up the entire tab for everybody no matter how large the group.

I know a few women who do this, some even make it a few night event at the bars. Never been a big fan of the adult birthday party.

I hate it when some cheap ass in the group starts itemizing the tab..."now you had the 3 Fat Tires so you owe $15.27 and you had 4 Buds so you owe$13.22 and you had the two Jameson's at $10.45...JEEZUS! - just throw in $15 everybody and stfu. Drinks and Golf always eventually work themselves out so all your buddies are even...unless you have the one really tight ass in your gang and then you all just abuse the shit out of him all the time for being a cheap mofo.

Lol, I used to have a friend (engineer) who would calculate what percentage everyone owed of the tax.
