Now the tigers are having similar success to the tribe of the 90's and they are nowhere near 455 consecutive games. Once the tigers come down to earth you will be nowhere to be found. Just like tigers fans were nowhere to be found in the 90's and early 2000's.Classyposter58;1617916 wrote:What about now though?
I understand, it's not football where you only have 8 games to fill a stadium (this is why bengals fans are pathetic). Much tougher with 82 games. Hell winning teams struggle to sell out every game for ONE season let alone 5 seasons.
So, like I said until you sell out 455 games, stfu. Don't come on here pretending tigers fans are amazing and are comparable to the better fan bases of the mlb, because they're not. Hell, you are a prime example of how fickle Detroit fans are. You come and go based on the scores of current games LOLFAIL. We can always count on you to show up late in a thread if Detroit finally takes a lead. Where were you when the red wings were down 2-1 in their series? You were all over that thread when they won game 1.

LOL! Miguel Olivo was released from the Dodgers today after getting into a fight with teammate Alex Guerrero in the dugout during a AAA game in Albuquerque. Apparently Olivio bit off a piece of Guerrero's ear during the fight!

Sports Illustrated has a great article up on all the things that are slowing the game down, and ideas to speed it up.
I was amazed though at how similar those stats are other than the time of game section, which has grown significantly.
One idea not related to time of game Tom Verducci through out which I actually like is the idea of an "illegal defense" idea to balance out the shift craze.
He suggested implementing a rule that no more than 2 infielders are allowed on either side of second base. Singles are at their lowest level in the history of baseball. The shift works, and it is killing guys that pull the ball.
I get that it is part of the game, but at the same time the NBA has rules on defense to keep a 7'0" from camping out in front of the hoop and snatching the ball out of the air on the way down because it's bad for the game.
Advanced metrics are so good now and improving at an exponential pace. At some point I hope they consider looking at options because it really has altered the game in some ways and I am not sure it's for the better.
People reflexively are resistant to ever changing the rules, but as technology increases and changes the game it needs to adapt.
It's a great article that covers a broad scope and is worth checking out.

A shooter can't stop a 7 footer from goaltending a jump shot in that situation. A hitter can stop trying to pull everything.IggyPride00;1620047 wrote:He suggested implementing a rule that no more than 2 infielders are allowed on either side of second base. A more apt comparison would be if the NBA banned hack-a-Shaq techniques because certain players miss too many free throws. That's the problem of the shooter, not the defense.
But the game definitely needs more steroids and less delays.

$25 budget
LF Henderson ($2)
2B Morgan ($5)
1B Pujols ($1)
RF Ruth ($5)
SS Rodriguez ($4)
CF Griffey Jr. ($1)
3B Schmidt ($5)
C Piazza ($1)
P Ryan ($1)
Ryan is clearly the worst pitcher on the list, but I'm pretty sure this team would outscore anyone.

The only two infielder is a dump proposal and wouldnt do anything to change the speed of the game.
Visits to the mound rule hasnt changed.
Not sure about how many diff pitchers are being used now compared to 2004. I would imagine it is more now than in 1994 but not sure about 2004.
Batters seem to walk up to the plate alot slower probably due to their walkup music.
Has commercail time expanded at all? I believe a few years ago they added 30 seconds per break between innings/half innings during the postseason games.
