Just because that is "normal" for her doesnt make it right.
Lol. The gays I am referring to are involved in consensual relationships. They are not out there raping and molesting people. Terrible comparison. My sister's relationship is exactly like mine. They are in love, they spend time together, they hope to build a life together.

P.S. Is she hot?

I agree with this. But thavoice specifically said "normal people." I take great issue with someone saying a loved one or a friend is not a normal person. Their sexual orientation may not be the norm, but they are people living life just like the rest of us. Who someone loves should be not matter in the least.

And I think my sister is beautiful, obviously. But she is not a lipstick lesbian.

This. Pedophiia is a sexual deviancy/sociopathic disease. Homosexuality has not been considered this since the early 1980's. Get into the 21st century people.

That said, i think the parade organizers have every right to ban contoversial/political agendas being put forth and using the parade as a forum to advance those agendas.

I agree with this. I think, in the grand scheme of things, most people are either apathetic or supportive to varying levels towards gay people and equal rights (in other words, ranging from "meh, doesn't effect me, whatevs" to "100% in support!"). However, when said cause attempts to go out of its way to pound people over the head with what they're trying to accomplish, to me, it almost seems like they're entering PETA-ville and its philosophy of "no attention is bad attention".

What do you consider pedophilia, though? I mean, a woman's "body" is ready to reproduce (science) once she menstruates. So, is pedophilia sexual relations before menstruation? Society would label someone a pedophile if they were having relations with someone who is well past menstruation, however not of the "legal" age.

Don't listen to thavoice. Sleeper, who is usually obnoxious about his views, has made more sense in this thread than he has.

As every private organization should, their money, their rules, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and it doesn't seems like this does. It is about tolerance, not acceptance and forced inclusion.

Fucking this. And I fit into your category of not giving a shit but still support whatever it is they want. But when every popular social gathering is turned into an opportunity for them to promote their views -- and "protest" instead when they can't -- it gets real annoying real quick. There's no two-way street about it, either. If the parade organizers would have relented and allowed them to carry signs, they'd be heralded as advocates for the GLBT cause. But when they say no, it's unfair, discriminating, and must be protested. The GLBT's involved here are either going to win by promoting their cause, or win by being the victim.

It seems fairly obvious that he's using the word in a different context.

No. He said "normal people." Being a redhead is not the norm, but I have a feeling he wouldn't categorize them the same way he would gays.

Except she has sex with girls. That isn't normal. I mean come on; this shouldn't even be an arguement but we have the PC "all people are special" garbage policing biological thought.

Didn't you do the same also, by saying their sexual orientation may not be the norm???

I guess I don't understand.

I'll have to read it again. They were both referring to sexual orientation. It wasn't that obvious to me. Sorry.

It is not the norm. But neither is having red hair. Or having blue eyes, or being a professional athlete, or owning a home with a pool. There are a lot of things that aren't normal. I highly doubt that thavoice would refer to these people the same way he refers to gays. There is ONE thing about my sister that is not the norm. To me, that doesn't make her some abnormal weirdo. Everyone has a trait, habit, etc. that is not the norm. Do we go around calling them not normal?

...soooooo you both don't think it's the norm.

The conversation wasn't about all the other peculiar things we all do. It was about sexual orientation being on display at the parade....and that's what he commented on....sexual orientation.

"But when every popular social gathering is turned into an opportunity for them to promote their view"

To be fair, most folks want to be left alone. Not everybody wants to be the "Jason Collins pioneer" that cheated on his girlfriend for years (and I'm sure she's had every STD test done as a result), and they deserve respect and privacy. I understand the frustration that a guy that acted badly is lauded for his behavior, and I agree that the political movement has gone too far - but the supermajority of gay people don't care and just want to live their lives.

I'm not sure we disagree!!!!! I'm just trying to understand your concern. You have both stated it's not the norm but you don't like that fact that he expressed it...even though you agree with him.
