Is trash talking on the free throw line considered bad sportsmanship or 'allowable' as part of the game?

At my hoops league the other day, we were up by 3 with 5 seconds left and we got called for a foul on a 3 point attempt. During the free throw attempt, I told the person on the free throw line "You know you have to make all 3 of these right, or the games over." He ended up missing the first one to which I remarked "Well the games over, good game".

At the end of the game, a few of their team members told me that I was a 'bad sport' and they wouldn't shake my hand.

Thoughts? I think they MAD. LOL : thumbup:

How do you find time to play basketball when you're banging half of Washington?

The real question is why a bonehead would foul on a 3 point attempt, especially in that situation (3 point lead and seconds left).

Yeah you're a bad sport no reason to say anything in a serious game. At the park who cares, but when the games count you keep mouth your shut

If it would have been me, I would have hit the 3 in your face and then laughed at you as i drained the free throw.

I just wanted to inform him of the importance of his free throws and the reality that the game is over if he missed one.

I never had much care for whiners though.

First remark before the FT's is fine imo.

The second one was being a poor sport. If you just waited till the end of the FT's and then said a simple good game, it'd be fine. But you were obviously trying to rub a little salt in the wound.

Trash talking is a part of sports. And that was mild at worst.

Nothing wrong with that. If you're gonna take the last second shot you've gotta be comfortable with a little talking at the FT line.

If trash talking bothers you, you are weak minded and probably terrible at sports.

I trash talk the shit out of my friends when playing sports or games. If I don't know the person I won't say a word unless they piss me off or say something first. Don't really see anything wrong with what you said though.

Part of the game, if you're not mentally strong enough to handle that then you're probably not a very good player anyway.

This would have been a better story had the dude shooting the FT's:

A)made the second and missed the last shot and the rebound was put right back in to tie the game.

THEN

B)Took basketball girl home because he made you look bad
