They didn't really say. But according to an article I read, it's apparently very common in speed skating.

I just thought it was odd. I always thought electronic timing was the end all, be all. That created an awkward moment for sure.

Hmm, not sure why it's not working. Probably should have tried it out.

I've been a skier for over 40 yrs and riders piss me off - always scraping off the powder and the little shits are all over the runs anymore. White is to blame for over half of these asswipes being out there. Every pot head stoner and his brother wanna be the next Shaun White, never work a day in your life and be a snowboard bum.

I miss Seven Springs, that's my hometown spot. The last time I was in that area I went to Holiday Valley for NYE weekend. It was shit, way too early in the season.

Eastern Ohio near PA/WV border.

That was a typo. I meant to say Hidden Valley. We couldn't book a place for Seven Springs.

US not medaling in the half pipe goes to show our selection process if flawed. White & Davis deserved to be there...but no Vito, Lago or Ferguson? I have to think we would have medaled if they hadn't sent 2 of the top 5 and 2 no-name up and comers.

Maybe I'm bias for Vito...but bad pipes are his specialty.

I'm a big fan of Vito, but he just doesn't seem to be able to get the air compared to the top half pipe guys.

You're right, he doesn't. But he makes up for it with some tricks in his bag that no one else has. He was the silver medalist at the Winter X games shortly after qualifying. He should have been there. Had they not cancelled the one qualifying event because of weather (or at least taken the qualifying scores like they did in skiing) he would have been the #3 member of the team.

Serious question...what tricks? You need that huge air to compete these days.

The competition at Winter X was weak because of Olympic hold outs. If I-pod would have stuck his run in final he would have taken gold there too.

The competition has caught up to White. His dominant days are over.

I tried looking it up but can't find the names. There are two tricks that he was the first to ever do. One of which he is still the only one who does it. I'm not hip enough to know all of the terms.
