I hope that's the case but I lost a lot of faith these last 3 weeks. Losing to Ball State at home by 17 and then that debacle that happened in Detroit was just awful. I think too part of the problem is he sees this as a stepping stone while greatest coach in program history Urban Meyer's first question to Lou Holtz after being hired was "How can I build a program here". That has more to do with how the entire MAC East was garbage and any instants of BG not looking like garbage were because they were playing East opponents, where they were the best of a bad lot. Who reported it? Maybe offered was indeed an exaggeration. My understanding is that conversations took place that didn't result in a hire.

Was told tonight #Michigan officials offered David Cutcliffe their job but the #Duke coach turned it down. Times sure have changed.

I hadn't seen that. Chris Mortensen is also reporting that no contact has been made, not even through a 3rd party search firm.
I have heard that they agreed to not publicize any conversations after there was no interest expressed.
