Supposedly he has turned down HC offers from Alabama, USC, and Texas over the years. A lot of people like the hire claiming that winning any games in Corvallis is a feat with the lack of resources and recruiting they have.

Kirk Herbstreit @KirkHerbstreit · 3h 3 hours ago If it's done...great hire by @Huskers getting Mike Riley from Oregon State!!

Tom Dienhart @BTNTomDienhart · 2h 2 hours ago I will say this: If you can win in Corvallis, Ore.--and Mike Riley did a lot of winning--you can probably win anywhere.

I'll reserve judgement until I see what he does with much better resources and recruiting. He's getting up there in age at 61. Makes you wonder if they plan on getting Frost as OC/head coach in waiting for a few years then he retires.

So... since the Michigan person who has not been mentioned anywhere, according to Cowherd... what are your speculations? Archie Manning? Don Shula?

Dennis Erickson went 31-17 at Oregon State the 4 years before Riley was hired, including an 11-1 season.

It really seems like almost a troll job to bring in a guy who's best season in 14 years was equivalent to Pelininis worst year at Nebraska.

Agree. It didn't work out so well after they fired Solich for only winning 9 games every year. Maybe this guy will be better.

He nailed Sark to USC about 14 days before it was made public. Some of these guys have actual sources, also I really doubt he's hurting for viewers/listeners.

I remembered this, which is why I pretty much trust him on this. He's not a guy that's always trying to break a story, so to think his sources throw him a bone every once in a while isn't far fetched.

You just officially ruled those two out by mentioning their names....

Has to be Tressel.
Or Cowher if he can sell the house he bought in NEO in anticipation of taking the browns job the last 4 times it came open.

Also interesting to note that Hoke was an assistant at Oregon State.

Wouldn't be surprised if Michigan hired someone boring like Cam Cameron.

He has sources just like everyone else throwing out names. He may know something. But I doubt he knows who the next Michigan coach is right now, or that it's a name not already thrown out there.

Also, how do you think these big shows stay successful? By creating news that keeps people watching. They don't become big by being content with their number of viewers.

If they hired Kelly, I would no longer be a Michigan fan.

Word is the Hoke may get interest from both OSU and CSU.

I don't know why, but Kelly's name came to mind when Hoke got fired...I doubt very much it happens, but it did pop into my head.

I hope they hire Kelly. He's never won ANYTHING; nothing and he won't win anything at Michigan either.

You mean beyond the two national championships at GVSU, the MAC title at CMU, the Big East title at Cincy, right?
