So then why not leave right now as opposed to losing 3 weeks of recruiting?

It's a dead zone time on recruiting right now until Jan 2.

As far as I know he hasn't accepted a job yet anywhere.

I would assume he has some verbal agreement if it is believed by a source that he wouldn't be there for a NCG

Link?

And if this is true, what an asshat to do this before the playoff. This is exactly the distraction that tOSU football team needs. /sarcasm.

This is when it happens, especially for coordinators. If he wanted a head job, he had to go now.

Will he coordinate the playoff? I sure hope. Also, I'm sure Urban could arrange as many head jobs as he wants to stay at OSU.

Highly doubt he will be around. Too much work to do for a new job, recruiting, hiring staff, etc, etc. Hate to lose Herman. I think he is excellent. That being said, this is and always has been Meyers offense. He knows how to run it. Herman definately added to it. But I am confident Meyer will hire a top notch OC. Possibly someone within (Online coach).

I won't be surprised to see them promote from within, take Zach Smith up to OC, freeing up the QB coach job for.....wait for it......Tebow.

I hope you're joking about Tebow. He can occasionally hang out on the sidelines, but as far as becoming a member of the staff? gtfo.

I say it in jest, but wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Urban bring him on staff, if Tebow wants to coach.

Good luck to Coach Herman, and I think he can be successful...but I can't wait to see Urban calling the offense in the playoff.

I'm not a fan, but I don't see this as much of a reach at all.

I see no negatives. He is, by all accounts, a great person, he was a tremendous college QB, and he knows Urban's system probably better than anyone out there.

Would it be a distraction? Maybe at first, just with the normal Tebowmania crap. I'm sure ESPN would be creaming itself for that coverage.

I really would have zero issue with him being added to the staff. He doesn't need to be a coordinator or position coach, just as almost a mentor type position.

Reports that he will remain with OSU through the CFP.

I expect Warinner to be promoted to OC.

@YahooForde: Y sources: Houston and Ohio State OC Tom Herman working on finalizing five-year contract. Herman will stay with Buckeyes through CFP.

Like I said, I don't think it's a reach to see him being on staff.
