Maybe the most wrong post in this thread. I don't think you realize that Dantonio has pretty much built there what Tressel did at OSU but without the top recruits yet. Still they've won 11 games in 3 of the last 4 yearsIggyPride00;1647795 wrote:Michigan State is a fraud and is going to be exposed badly at Oregon. They are the only team on the schedule that is a likely top15 caliber team, and they will be well out of the national title picture by the time and undefeated Buckeye squad invades.
I don't see where people are getting 2-3 losses from with this schedule. Mich St. is the only game they could realistically lose, and even they aren't nearly what the media is hyping them to be.
Frankly I expect the Buckeyes to be undefeated and in the playoff. From there they will probably get thumped, but getting there is a successful season. If Urb can't pull that off then his seat needs to be made to feel a little warm by a fan base that is tired of mediocrity and not seriously contending for national titles.

They play the little sisters of the poor each week. Until this year, they have continually had one of the worst out of conference schedules in America every year. Did you see the abomination they had last year? Hell, they lost the only decent out of conference game they played.Classyposter58;1647922 wrote:Maybe the most wrong post in this thread. Trust me, no one is fretting that MSU is going to be challenging for a national title any time soon.
Built what Tressel had? Hardly. Sparty can't sniff the Buckeyes jock on their worst day. Last year was a fluke, and won't happen again. If it does, then Urb is a fraud living off his SEC glory days. I suspect that isn't the case though, so I'm not concerned.

The game in E Lansing will be a tough venue no matter if Oregon blasts MSU or not. OSU has 8 games to solidify an OL, find some DBs and tutor a new QB & Receiving Corps. The legend of Urbie is on the line here and he knows it. Nick Saban and Bob Stoops are currently the best CFB coaches in the nation, Urbie was once in that conversation, he knows his legacy is at stake and I for one thinks he can strengthen it this year with a solid 11-1 or 10-2 run.

It depends.I for one thinks he can strengthen it this year with a solid 11-1 or 10-2 run.
If the only losses are Mich St and the bowl game then it is going to damage his rep because it would be losing the only 2 losable games on the schedule. That is just unacceptable.
No one cares that you can whoop the Little Sisters of the Poor if you lose everytime you play a team that has even a smidgen of talent. That is why Urb has to start winning the few big games the Buckeyes play.
This isn't like the old days where he had to go through the grind of a brutal SEC season playing studs multiple times a season. People were more forgiving of losses back then than they are now where you only play 1-2 decent teams a year, much less studs.

Interesting that Vonn Bell is an "OR" behind Cam Burrows at safety. This secondary is young, but I think they're going to be so much better than last year.

Urban Meyer is so good that the year after he left Bowling Green they hosted college game day and were 14th in the nation. Pretty much in 2 years turned the program completely around, and it was one that absolutely sucked for 10 years before himTiernan;1648051 wrote:The game in E Lansing will be a tough venue no matter if Oregon blasts MSU or not. I never said he was, unless you can find that quote..... Very cute of you to try and infer that I was saying that. I just love how everyone keeps talking about first test being MSU by saying we have 8 games to do this, that, and the other.Automatik;1648122 wrote:He's not on the team!!!!!

It's not a MAC school we are talking about here, but TOSU, who exactly do you see capable of beating them in the first 8 games?I just love how everyone keeps talking about first test being MSU by saying we have 8 games to do this, that, and the other.

@penn state
Cinci could beat us at home. Tuberville new coach, and they have some good players. Tuberville is 6-3 all time vs top 5 opponents.
Va tech COULD beat us.

Cinci and Maryland we will more than likely win. Iggy asked who we COULD lose to. In my mind, with a freshman QB we COULD lose to any decent road team. And Maryland will have a crazy crowd, being the first big ten game for them.

Maryland won't fill the stadium unless OSU buys up all the unused tickets. I've been to College Park on a Sat and it's like going to a MAC game...parents & girlfriends.

Just checked...there are plenty of 2 game mini-packs still available for OSU & James Madison (wasn't he an old time movie star!?!) at $122 ea. Maryland sucks almost as much as NEO.

Uhh, it the Terps are healthy, they are good.
Before Diggs and Long were hurt, they were ranked in the top 25.
They could easily be unbeaten going into the OSU game.
And the time is TBD still, I have a feeling it will be a night game, or at least a 6:00pm game.

I'm still not buying the whole "Even if you're a fan with no actual say in how the team plays, you HAVE TO BE worried about these opponents!!!!!" line of reasoning that came up starting with the "Stop overlooking PSU!!!" one.Automatik;1648713 wrote:Yeah it's Navy, but I'm not buyin it...regarding we should be worried.
The only thing I'll be worried about entering tomorrow is making sure I have enough beer to get me through 12 hours or so.
