Now, I'll start by 11 or so and prepare to drink all day long, watching whatever games come on after OSU until I pass out sitting up in a chair. And then wake up and resume watching until I wake up to find someone turned the TV off, which is my cue to find a bed.
I am 37 with four little boys. I am right with you. Just giving Gerb some grief!

you know how Miller was going to react to the 100K fans and pressure packed games.
By the time JT plays in a game that has any pressure he will be well accustomed to the 100K people and it won't be an issue.

They will be 8-0 before they even have their first real game, and then once Michigan State is exposed week 9 they have a 3 week bye until the playoff starts.

Quite frankly the Buckeyes were better positioned to lose their QB and not have it effect them than any other school in the country that had national title aspirations.

3 BEERS!?! Don't bring that weak shit to a Buckeye Homer. I usually have 3x that many before we get on the road to the game.

you must have been next to the Newport or Agora as it was called in my day. I lived above SBX Books and we a small deck that overlooked High St. Many famous OSU personalities made our acquaintance as we talked to people waiting in line to get into Zacharias Red Eye Saloon next door. We were kinda hot shit at the time.

In Urban Meyer's first press conference of the 2014 season, Ohio State's third-year coach named five captains for his team.
  • Braxton Miller, quarterback.
  • Jeff Heuerman, tight end.
  • Michael Bennett, defensive tackle.
  • Doran Grant, cornerback.
  • Curtis Grant, linebacker.
Heuerman, Bennett and Doran Grant were shoe-ins for the position. Braxton Miller is a bit of surprise, considering the quarterback is out for the season and since he'll travel in that role, he'll take up a spot on the Buckeyes' 70-man travel roster.
Curtis Grant, however, is probably the biggest surprise of all. Sometimes, it takes competition to bring out the best in people.

Couldn't disagree more on the QB discussion. If Miller returns, and is 100%, he will be the starter. The young man is one of the 10 best players in the country. OSU is till young and will be returning quite a bit next year. Miller is a difference maker. He makes plays when needed. Not many player out there that are capable of doing what he does when things break down.
The only time this could be questionable, is if JTB comes in and lights things on fire. Which I HIGHLY doubt will happen. Love to see it. But kid hasn't taken a snap on a college field to date.

^^^That's a BIG maybe. He'll have been off for a year, and why risk not only the physical but the mental and emotional maturation of a player that you're going to count on for the next few years after next? Meyer is smarter than that, and even thought he may use Miller, he won't start him at QB unless JTB completely bombs, which I highly doubt will happen.

I'd pretty much guarantee Miller will be the starter next year barring further injury. Week 1.

Have some people forgotten what that kid can do on the field?

Unless Barrett comes out looking like 2007 Tebow, I don't see him keeping the job.

Again, after being off a year and being in his last year of eligibilty, and with an up-and-coming sophomore coming back with a year under his belt, it'd be ludicrous to guarantee anything of the sort....and even though he played well at times during the season, I also remember what he did vs. MSU and Clemson ;)

I remember quite a few QBs who stepped in as untested FR or SO who did a helluva job. Kern, Greene, Tomszack, Karsotos, TWHPIH...all won the B1G their first year at the helm. Until Barrett proves otherwise I'm giving the kid the benefit of the doubt.

I remember it too. I just don't put any of our woes from last year on our offense or Miller. He didn't lose those games.

I'll be here at the start of next season, but I stand by it.... BM will be the starter.

Fair enough, and I will be here too (unless this site is closed down by then). As I said, unless Barrett implodes, this is his team for the next few years.

What if he's average and we drop 2-3 games and play in a mediocre bowl?

With the young talent we have and that happens, Miller could put them over the top. A year off, to prep his mind and body....could be a very fun season in 2015.

When its easy to name those, that doesnt' mean it happens often. Usually other way around. How many have struggled? Again, hope I am wrong and JT does really well. Then Meyer might have a tough decision.
But as of right now, IF, and yes, big if, Miller is healthy, I have no doubt he will be the starter. Kid is a stud. You don't sit a stud with the talent OSU has coming back next year and a national title chance. As I said, Miller is the difference maker. He was also voted a captain so that tells you what the team thinks of him as well. Even after the injury.
The year off..who cares. He has 3yrs under his belt already. He is a proven commodity. We are not just talking about your avg. QB here.

Couldn't agree more. People gave Miller crap last year and it wasn't the offense fault. The past two seasons, the OSU offense has literally carriedt his team. They shattered most offensive OSU records. The offense bailed out the defense a number of times. It was the OSU defense/pass defense that has been...just flat out bad the past two seasons. That can't be argued by anyone.
To win any kind of title, you have to have, at the very least, a solid, consistant defense.

While Miller is a threat every time he touches the ball, he's only effective when he's ON THE FIELD. He's been hurt every season since his junior year in high school, so you can't depend on him. His passing is average at best, and we've shattered most of said records because of his running ability.

The ONLY way Miller starts is if JT Barrett fails miserably, and losing a couple of game (ie MSU and a bowl game) does not meet this criteria...and fwiw, I don't think Brax is coming back, regardless of what he's saying now..jmo

For the record, I love Braxton Miller, and have always been in his corner....however, he's had his time, and I just think it's time to move on.

This is average? Paired with his running, I'm going with pretty fucking good. I thought we were all about "playing your best players" now that Urban came to town? I just don't think we'll be able to say JT is the better option this time next year.

Yes, in light of the pathetic schedule we played, average....just curious, how'd he do in the B1G championship game and the bowl? Also, how many games did he miss last season?? Let's let this season play out, and I'm sure Urban will play his best player...time will tell.

Here you go

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=340030194

And he was balls through the air against MSU.

How did that defense do? Oh, they let Clemson score at will and Connor Cook look like Tom Brady.
