No one is saying Gordon isn't a dumbass, or that Gordon will stop smoking weed.

I think we can all acknowledge he is a dumb fuck. I don't think cutting him is the answer. He would just end up on the steelers or some shit. No harm in keeping him. If he fails again, his career is over and the browns won't have to pay him regardless.

Browns basically need to move forward as if he isn't on the team. Try to rehab him as much as they can, so that hopefully he can take a year off, learn from his mistakes, and stay clean. But more than likely that's not gonna happen.

But sure as shit don't cut him.

Speaking of which, Will Hill just got suspended for 6 games, and this was his THIRD failed test. If that's the case, why is Gordon looking at a year?

That is what it should be according it the policy. Second stage of tier 2. That is what Gordon should be assuming he didn't fail a drug test nobody happens to know about or he voluntarily moved himself to stage 3, which obviously didn't happen.

Cut. Gordon, wait til he is kicked out of the league for good. Same end result.

Except if you cut him, he's done with the browns. If you wait til he is kicked out of the league, there's a chance he comes back (clean).

In the latter scenario, there's nothing to lose if you're the browns, so that's what you do.

Yeah I get what you're saying and obviously it makes sense for the Browns to keep him for the chance he does get clean. I can understand some of the frustration with fans. It's either this guy is a giant freaking idiot or he really knows something we dont (meaning the media is over exaggerating the possible extension. Say he wasn't in stage 3 by some miracle, his next failed test is resulting in being kicked out for a year on top of the 6 week extension. But if he is in stage 3 from what the media tends to believe, he will be kicked out of the league with another failed drug test.

bottom line to me is that the guy has had so many chances already, I don't see him ever learning and getting his shit together.

I agree wih your last paragraph. He's a dumbass and will probably screw himself out of millions of dollars and all time great WR lists...because he couldn't quit a little pot.

I'd say the most logical (to me) way of handling things would be to simply tell him he's put himself in a position where if he wants to continue making money, he's going to have to have a handler (kind of like Josh Hamilton in baseball). And if he dislikes the whole "not being treated like an adult" thing, simply inform him that club officials dislike the whole "key player about to miss a lot of time due to stupidity" thing AND that most people in the league probably will dislike the whole "repeated drug-related incidents going back to college giving the impression he other doesn't get it or simply doesn't care" thing.

After rethinking this, I tend to agree. He has a contract coming up, and I know he's a dumbass, but what if he's trying to play himself off the team? I know it's very unlikely but who's to say if they were to release him that he wouldn't have a sudden "epiphany" and clean up his act and sign with another team? As like_that said, with our luck he'd end up in Pittsburgh.

That being said, retain his rights for as long as possible and let him rot if he doesn't straighten up.

It's hard to fathom that someone is this stupid. It's like someone walking up to you with a breifcase with millions of dollars and saying "here, take it" and your response is "nah, I'm smoking a joint....no time for that."

These four guys seem to get it. Not surprised at the one guy who can't.

I don't think all of what sportsandlady says is wrong. I mean it technically is just a speeding ticket. I'm looking at it more from the overall picture. The Browns keep saying they want to change the culture and do things the "browns way." These types of situations definitely challenge a franchise on what that means...

I see the side of, well just keep him and hope it gets better. Plus it'll be cheap to resign him. But how many more chances does the guy get? Like seriously, with the nfl, how many more chances does he get.

Also say the nfl decides to not punish weed the same soon. Do they change the rules for punishment for a guy like gordon, say he fails again?

The NFL is so stupid testing and suspending players for weed. They need to be more like the NBA.

Kyle Shanahan likens Manziel to RIII.

RGIII was as good as advertised as a rookie until he got hurt of course. Thank God the Browns have a guy like Shanahan that won't put seat belts on him. My guess that if there was a lesson to be learned on RGIII and his injuries, who better to share it with Manziel than Shanahan.

It took a boatload of draft picks to land Griffin. Farmer was lucky to get him when he did.

Along with the Shanahan RG3/Manziel parallel, this came out a few weeks ago (Insider).

JFF will be starting week 1! From everything I've read he's been looking pretty good.

josh Gordon is an idiot. The kid has cost himself atleast 90 million dollars. But you don't cut him, bc like a lot of people said he would clean up his act and he'd kill us. Just the browns luck. I hope if JG is suspended all year they make a play for a wide out. JFF is going to need big body. This team has the talent for a playoff push. Offense and defense. I honestly can see JFF having a rookie year like RGIII I really can. Especially if we can pound the rock like I think we can. Tate and West are going to be nasty this year. I'm too excited. Haven't been this excited in years.

Exactly how I feel. Unbelievably excited for this year's pro season. Only injuries can stop this team from making the playoffs. Just made a large wager on over 6.5 wins.

Pierre Desir is beyond intriguing. The man picked off 25 balls in college. 25! Why did teams even throw in his direction? Doesn't matter if it's division 18 or worse. 25 picks is unreal. Seems to me this guy needs to play more than just nickel/dime packages. I can dream that this guy will be a Larry Wilson or Willie Wood type free safety. Can't be that hard to learn the safety position.

The only way this happens is if Hoyer gets hurt. Period.

I'm not so sure. If this "competition" is even close, I think they go with Manziel. I think Hoyer is going to have to be lights out and JFF is going to have to look like total crud to keep him off the field.

I think just the opposite. Manziel will have to be heads and shoulders above Hoyer-if not, and Manziel falters, the fans and press will eat him alive. Remember, everyone loves the backup, and IMO, this is the best way for him to get on the field....but once he does, he ain't coming off.

Or the fact that Manziel might just be better overall? That could have something to do with it. If Manziel is playing lights out and Hoyer looks average, sorry JFF starts.
