I vaguely remember hearing last night that instead of Burnett, it will be Cole in game 5.

Crazy...one way or another, this series will have essentially been won by a rookie. Either Cole starts two wins by the Pirates in a 3-2 win or Wacha's near no-no will be the turning point that allows Wainwright to clinch.

BUccos needed that one yesterday as I dont see them going into SL and winning the final game.

Good, good run by the pirates, and will see if they can build on that next year. What are the chances all three of the teams make it again next year? Not likely, so what team is going to step back?

Yeah. That was a rough loss yesterday. If the Cards do win tomorrow, all credit has to go to Wacha. Rookie comes in on the road in front of a very loud crowd and has a no-hitter until into the eighth inning. Ice running through that dude's veins. I was very impressed by him. Super pissed off at him, but very impressed nonetheless.

That's would've been amazing with that crowd and situation.

Now the Cardinals will boringly win 6-2
I was hoping Cutch would take the 3-1 pitch, and either walk or go 3-2 where the runner would be moving and might score on a gap shot on the 3-2.

Three hours (and a few minutes) until the end of this series begins.

Just hoping it also isn't the end of the season. Gerrit Cole with the opportunity to be a household name tonight. With how many great rookies there were this year, he flew below the radar a bit, but pitched great over the final month or so.

It's a beautiful night for baseball in STL. Temps in the low 70's under sunny skies, expected to slip into the upper 60's by game's end. Perfect weather for the Redbirds to wrap it up and get ready to host the Dodgers.

I must admit, though, that Cole has me a tad worried. He shut the Cards down pretty easily in Game 2.

Well, that was the end of that. Great season with a somewhat depressing end. Not so much losing, as beating Wainwright in St. Louis wasn't going to be easy, but more just because they showed no offense in two potential clinching games.

Last night was sad to the point of hilarious in a way. When your only run scored comes off two infield singles and a third single that barely got out of the infield, it's just a sign that your offense is not there.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of a string of successful years. They have a young nucleus and a lot of minor league talent to bring up over the coming seasons, so they're definitely not in the same situation they were in after '92 when I think everyone knew that age of prosperity was over.

Sad ending to a great season. Got the losing monkey off their back, unexpectedly made the playoffs, won a "round" and regained respect around baseball.

Got some big decisions this off season. What to do with AJ? I don't think he'll be back. Would love to sign Byrd. Morneau can go. What is Walker's status?
