I should have some time to mess around tonight and over the weekend with the Xbox One and I'll post my impressions and compare to the PS4 sometime soon.

I hope I like the Xbox One, and then I think things will look like this in my family room:

-Get rid of Roku
-TV plugged in through Xbox, everything done on the Xbox as far as Netflix/Hulu/TV/Youtube (we have kids and use those apps a lot).
-The PS4 will remain hooked up but be used only for first party games primarily.

So unless the Xbox One has some problems I'm thinking it will be used a lot in our house.
How does it work for hooking cable tv into Xbox? Does the Xbox interface just overlay on top your current cable tv package? You obviously still need a DTV cable box right?

So Xbox has it's own guide that will be used rather than the cable box interface. The Kinect acts as an IR blaster for it. For some things like settings or DVR you still have to use the cable box interface.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes for TV.

We very rarely watch live TV, so all we currently have is a coax cable directly into the TV, and we get like 15-20 HD channels that way.

I picked up a little box from our cable provider, which allows me to plug the coax line into the box, then it has an HDMI output, which will go into the Xbox One, then HDMI to my receiver...Then Receiver to TV. That is the plan at least, so I'll post a follow-up on how that goes...Not sure since we don't have a standard cable box or Dish/Directv box...

My Xbox One and replacement PS4 showed up today. Early on I am leaning toward the Xbox One. But the whole first PS4 being defective might have made me a little biased.

Old setup = Cable directly into TV
New setup = Cable into cable box ---- HDMI out of the cable box and into the Xbox One (it has 1 hdmi in port) ---- HDMI out of the xbox one and into my audio receiver ---- HDMI out of the audio receiver and into the TV.

So, if you want to watch TV, you have to have the xbox one on. Before, If I wanted to watch TV the TV had to be on input one, if I wanted to play Roku/Xbox/PS3, I had to change to the corresponding channel on the receiver , and changed the TV to a different input.

I've messed with the Xbox One setup for a couple hours tonight and we are all set. I walk into the room and say "xbox on" and it turns on the receiver, the TV, and the xbox, saying "xbox turn off" turns off all 3 devices.

The voice controls in the menus are pretty good...at this point I don't see myself using them a lot. I will be using things like "xbox go to netflix", or "xbox go to hulu plus" a lot, because that saves a lot of button presses and it seems to work pretty much 100% of the time on the first try. Watching TV through the Xbox one is fine, and I like the idea of being connected to the xbox at all times and being able to switch between apps and games all super fast.

I've not played a game on the system yet, the wife and I watched a few shows and I just started installing Battlefield 4, which is taking awhile.

So far the Xbox One seems like a winner just from the media center standpoint, looking forward to playing some games next.

This is kind of how I feel. I used to be into all the sports games but haven't bought one for a couple years. Ryse looks pretty cool but I read the multiplayer is shit. Ill probably just get COD and hate myself for it later on.

Just enjoying it a lot, really good games and the operating system is really sweet and easy to use. The Kinect is really good as well, much more powerful than the previous version. Can't wait for some of the bigger titles to be released.
