Yep. tried two different hdmi cables and plugged it in to different tvs, and surge bars. Seems like it isn't a unique situation. One of the consoles ign got early had the same issues.

Yeah, lots of reports of defective units. That does suck but hopefully a replacement comes quick

Went over to my brother's house last night and he surprised me with a console he got from KMart Friday morning (he allowed me to buy it off him).

Apparently if you pre ordered from gamestop offered 90% extra on trade ins. Thats a crazy deal. A few of my friends ended up with store credit because they got so much out of their stuff

Here are some impressions after a weekend with PS4...I was only able to play about 4 hours or so total, so I still haven't put a lot of hours into it.

On Friday I plugged everything in, downloaded the patch, but due to PSN network issues was unable to install the patch for a few hours...This was fine as I did it while the kids were awake in anticipation of it taking awhile, and everything was all set by the time we put them to bed.

Played some Killzone (MP only). Graphics are amazing, but there is a weird blur on the graphics that kind of drives me nuts (I've never played a prior KZ game so I'm not sure if this is just a trademark of all KZ games). This is a slower, more strategic MP experience. I like it so far, but I'm not really itching to get back into it at this point, so this may be a game that I trade in sooner than later...No voice chat on multiplayer, which is weird in a game that requires strategy.

Battlefield had problems all Friday night, so I wasn't able to play it, but I did play Resogun (arcade style shooter free with PSN+ subscription). This game is a blast, played for an hour or so. It's a simple game but the graphics are pretty stunning and the sounds are great.

Finally able to play some Battlefield a little on Saturday, but no Conquest mode yet, it is still not working (64 players/vehicles/etc.). So I played a few of the other modes and the game is awesome, I see myself spending many hours playing just like I did with prior installments. This is the game I can't wait to play tonight again (over Killzone).

The UI is super fast and I prefer it over the PS3, although they are pretty similar. It's nice to pop out to the menus and hop right back into the game with little downtime. I haven't used any of the media apps yet (netflix, hulu, etc.), and I have not used it as a BR player...Those things will be used more on the Xbox One in my house.

The UI is lacking in comparison to what I'm sure the Xbox One will be like. I was more of an Xbox 360 gamer last generation, so I'm used to that and look forward to checking it out on Friday when mine gets here.

I will say that early impressions are making me feel that if I didn't have an Xbox One preordered I would feel a little bit like I may have made the wrong choice in systems...I don't know what it is, though, and I've probably just not given it enough time. Maybe it's just the fact that there were connection issues with BF all weekend (EA's fault, not PSN)...I still feel that in the long run PS4 is going to have the most impressive games and the exclusive games that I feel like I can't miss (Last of Us, Uncharted, etc.).

edit: oh yeah, the controller is great....Way better than the PS3 controller, which I liked, but strongly preferred the Xbox 360 controller...It's hard to get used to not have a start/pause button, though, but I'm almost there. One complaint I have about the controller is the stupid blue light bar that can not be turned off -- there is a blue light glare on the bezel of my TV and the pictures that we have below the TV on our TV stand...Drives me nuts, I'm going to have to put electrical tape over it or something...

Does anyone have advice on picking up an Xbox One before Christmas? I didn't preorder and just decided to get one as a gift. Other than lining up on release day, will there be other chances to grab one before the holidays? Thanks for any info guys.

PS4's were available on Amazon for almost 1 hour and midnight EST on launch day...You could try to stay up until midnight Thursday night and see if they do the same for the Xbox One...

Xbox live >>>> PS network

Anyone who plays games online should have an xbox imo. Hopefully Sony can improve it now that they are charging for online subscription. That being said I've heard a lot of bad things about the ps4, but it is still early, these systems will get much better with time.

Definitely agree with that....PS+ is appealing because of the free games and decent online play, but MS just seems to be way ahead in online stability, chat/party options...

I'm thinking that going forward I might be going Xbox One for all cross-platform multiplayer games (COD, Battlfield, etc.), and then just getting exclusives on playstation.

The Dualshock 4 controller is a big improvement, but I still prefer the offset sticks on the Xbox controllers. I've not held the Xbox One controller yet, but I'm guessing I will like it just as much or more than the Xbox 360 controller...

From what I've been reading, both companies are aggressively making new consoles to try to capture as much market share as early on as possible. This scenario created itself since the last thing either company wants is for someone that wanted their console to go into the store only to find it unavailable and the other available; thus prompting the purchase of the other console.

Yeah, a friend of mine who works in importing/exporting is overseeing the shipment of Xbox consoles...he said they're coming in daily from overseas. I don't think they're going to purposefully hold them back to drive up demand.

I'd be shocked if there weren't a steady flow of consoles to store shelves.

Awesome, hope this is true. I hate when there is a shortage right after release day. I'm NOT going to wait in line for a game console. Especially as a gift. Lol.

Just got an email from Amazon:

Customers who signed up to be notified of Xbox One console availability might like to know that we will have units of the Xbox One available for pre-order on Wednesday, November 20.

Quantities are limited so you will need to pre-order while supplies last, starting at 8 a.m. ET / 5 a.m. PT.

My Xbox One and Battlefield 4 for Xbox One are 'shipping now' on Amazon and will be here tomorrow.

Reviews of the system have been pretty decent...Seems to be a little bit of a learning curve with the voice commands and they are hit and miss on some reviews, and perform flawlessly on other videos.

After a week with the PS4 I’m glad I got it, but I think it will be reserved for exclusives and only single player multiplatform games or games where there is heavy favoritism (Destiny, for example, seems to be having exclusive deals with PS4 over the Xbox One). That is unless I’m underwhelmed by the Xbox One.

I plan to pick up any multiplayer multiplatform games for the Xbox One since I will already have Xbox Live paid for to use all of the media services (I’ll probably buy PS+ too for the free games). Got BF4 for now, small chance that I will pick up COD Ghosts, but I’m not a big fan anymore, and then Titanfall will be here in March, which looks great.

So, who all picked up the Xbox One and thoughts so far?

I'll be picking up madden and the PS4 camera sometime during black Friday/cyber Monday sales.

My Xbox One is delivered and sitting at home waiting for me along with Battlefield 4...I also ordered COD Ghosts today for $49 on amazon (even though I always tell myself I won't buy COD), but that won't be here until Monday/Tuesday.

I should have some time to mess around tonight and over the weekend with the Xbox One and I'll post my impressions and compare to the PS4 sometime soon.

I hope I like the Xbox One, and then I think things will look like this in my family room:

-Get rid of Roku
-TV plugged in through Xbox, everything done on the Xbox as far as Netflix/Hulu/TV/Youtube (we have kids and use those apps a lot).
-The PS4 will remain hooked up but be used only for first party games primarily.

So unless the Xbox One has some problems I'm thinking it will be used a lot in our house.
