I grabbed "Super Time Force" last night (Xbox One) and it's a lot of fun so far.

It's a game I've been following for awhile....It's kind of like a retro-Contra style game with a cool time changing element. Basically you can rewind and play alongside the "ghost" of yourself...Sometimes you'll die from a gunshot, then rewind and choose the shield character, then if you block the bullet and save your "ghost" self, you can collect that life and now you have the special power of both characters and an extra life.

Kind of hard to explain but it's a cool take on a classic game style. It's $14.99 on XB1 and Xbox 360 (no PS4).

The Xbox Live move was definitely smart but I'm not sure the Kinect thing is a great long term strategy. That was a big part of the value proposition for the XB1. Not only for consumers but developers as well. If not everyone has a Kinect it's no longer worth developing for. I'm sure they were feeling pressure from investors though.

PS had a better plan from the beginning and didn't flip flop which has helped them. Also, when it comes to sales, hasn't PS opened in far more countries and territories than XB1? PS has slightly better specs but from my understanding with the cloud XB1 could surpass it.
Honestly I think Microsoft's original XB1 plan was awesome. The sharing capabilities and shit were cool. Had they tweaked it a bit (no need to require an internet connection when playing a game with a disc, only when using the sharing functions and stuff like that) and not sucked at explaining what they were doing it would have been nice. Instead they went full retard mode and let the press and social media drive the conversation.

Watchdogs comes out Tuesday...

I'm a little skeptical about this one...Initially looked like such an awesome game, then the delay, and now things kind of just seem 'off' with it. I'm expecting 7/10 score average, and I'll probably pick it up since there isn't much else to play right now...

What seems "off" about it? I'm expecting a tremendous game, Ubisoft usually pulls through.

I read through some threads on reddit and neogaf...There has been a pretty big graphics downgrade (which I'm not too worried about), and the game just seems a little empty as far as the city goes...Almost rushed, even though it had a big delay.

Like you said, Ubisoft does usually pull it off, so I'm hoping that is the case.

I actually watched a live stream of the game for an hour this morning and it looked pretty fun, and the online looked surprisingly cool, too. I still think it will grab a 7-8/10 on metacritic, but I pretty sure I'm buying at this point.

I like the premise of it, really different and I can't think of anything else like it. If it ends up being an 8/10 that's fine with me, will be well worth a play.

Guy from IGN got to play about 5 hours or so before the release and said it was great -- lived up to his expectations. I preordered it from Amazon and with Prime 2-day shipping, the delivery date was the 29th. Don't they do same-day shipping? I didn't really care because I won't have much time to play it the 27th, anyways, but just curious.

Wolfenstein has been pretty fun so far. Anyone been playing it?

Reviews for Watchdogs are rolling in and it's looking like a solid 8/10 in general.

I'm in....Picking it up on my way home from work since I have a walmart GC to blow.

I always take IGN reviews with a grain of salt. They have a tendency to give average reviews and then give it a 9.0 anyway.

I used to like IGN, but now I have a problem with pretty much every critic review. There are still a few good sites out there, but for the past several years I really on game forum impressions and user ratings on Amazon, etc.

A lot of the Watchdogs reviews are giving a lot of negative remarks, where you would expect maybe a 6/10, then BAM, 9/10. Not to say it doesn't deserve a 9 since I haven't played it yet, but the review scores don't align with the text of the review.

I guess I don't pay much attention to user reviews. It's all subjective anyways and everyone likes what they like. When IGN reviewed Wolfenstein, one of the negatives was that you had to manually pick ammo/health rather than automatically when passing over it. That certainly is redundant but not something I'd consider a deterring factor. If I'm on the fence with a game, I'll usually just scan IGN's review to see what's good and bad about.

As someone who does game reviews, it seems you get that all the time with the larger sites. At least with big name titles; as they'll utterly bury blah titles from non-name companies. But with the big-name stuff, they'll do everything they can to downplay any potential faults, while praising the good stuff like it's the greatest thing ever.

Pretty much, to get a 9-10 rating, just have really good graphics and a faux-movie plot that constantly intrudes on things with long cutscenes. And then, yeah, throw in some generic cover-based shooter game-play or whatever so people look forward to the next faux-movie cutscene. And the reviewing community will rejoice.

Only played about 1 hour last night, and I like it so far...I need a few more hours to get a good idea of how much I like it, but it seems promising.

Got to play a little more last night...Still liking it.

Driving is pretty weird and difficult to control, but I'm adapting. I think the shooting is pretty fun, moreso than GTA.

The online seems to have potential...I know there have been server issues, but in the hour or so I played last night I was "invaded" by other players 2-3 times.

The one was pretty funny, I had to get close enough to 'hack' some other guy, then upload some software on him or something, then I had to run away and hide. On there screen I appear just as any other NPC, so you have to hide or blend in so they do not spot you. It was hilarious because I just walked super slow like a random NPC and would just walk down the sidewalk and right past the guy searching for me, but since I didn't freak out and run he didn't know it was me. Eventually he spotted me and I was then supposed to flee without getting killed but he was able to gun me down...

If it was so easy, then how did he eventually spot you before you were able to 'hack' him?

This was my first time playing this mode, and I now realize that after you 'hack' the person, which was basically just having a line of sight on him for a short period of time, you are then supposed to run/drive far away and find a good hiding place...preferably a place with a lot of elevation changes so you can stay away. Then you upload some software or something, which takes like 1 minute, then you have to stay hidden from the person for 4 min (I think).

I was a dummy and just hung around downtown Chicago with no place to hide. After walking right past me a few times he eventually targeted me and spotted me. All he had to do was just keep looking at everyone until it showed that it was me (I've never been on the other side of this game, but I think you just basically walk around pushing square to use your hack tool thing, until you find the bad person).

Played Watchdogs for a couple hours, but most of that was just driving around checking everything out. Seems pretty overwhelming initially but we'll see.

As McFly said, the driving is difficult. And it's even more difficult to lose the cops. I somehow started this mission of stealing a car, having to lose the cops, then deliver it undetected to a location. Once you lose the cops, it's incredibly easy for them to find you again. Other than that, so far so good.

The driving has gotten better for me with time, but it still sucks...The camera doesn't follow properly, so a lot of times on turns you have to be readjusting the camera while trying to spin out in the right direction....It was just bad design and a hard thing to adjust to after coming from a game like GTA.

As for the cops, what has been working for me is heading to a bridge and opening it as I approach...Jump the bridge and the cops don't follow. Also, those barrier things work well...Drive over them and raise them as soon as you go through.

It's easier to get away from the cops the more you progress in the game, just keep unlocking new skills.

Do side missions, easy way to rack up skill points and xp. Crimes are really easy to bust. I had all my skills unlocked 3/4 of the way through the game.
