my last trip to chicago we walked from our hotel to the white sox games. it was fine on the way there, but after 17 innings it was 1am and we were about a 30 minute walk back to our hotel. i wouldnt have minded having my gun for that walk.

I live here, and I feel safe (without the gun). But then again, I try not to venture south of Hyde Park (daytime), or west of the united center (again...during the night time).

I feel pretty safe too. The only time I get a little freaked out is when I take the red line to 95th to my girlfriends place (although cant do that for a while).

But I've gotten drunk and stumbled home from pretty much everywhere in the city and never had any problems.

Now watch me jinx the fuck out of myself.

I don't live in Chicago, but I have family that does and I'm there often. Most places in the city are as safe as anywhere, at least most places you'd want to go. I've rarely been anywhere where I wished I had my gun. But the peace of mind just having it ANYWHERE is worth having it. I would certainly hope that you guys aren't hanging out in the ghettos. Is there a reason other than trying to get shot to go to any sketchy places in Chicago?
