I have been doing intermittant fasting for 12 weeks and dropped 32 lbs in that time.
I fast in 3 24 hour windows each week. Sun 8pm-mon 8pm, tues 8pm-wed 8pm, and thur 8pm-fri 8pm are my 3 cycles of fasting and eat up to 500 calories during that period. The other 24 hour cycles I eat pretty much what I want within limits..still pzza, wings, burgers, etc..just less than before.

Most of my weight training is body weight....mostly pushups/situps and also go for runs. Gunning for a 300 on my fall PT test.


Eat. STop. Eat was an eye opener for me on the fasting way of doing things. It talks about a 24 hour window, not necessarily has to be a full calender day. Trainer buddy of mine hooked me up on this and the 24 hr cycle. I am loving it as it seems like there is nothing to it. There are quite a few health benefits to fasting.
I like the 24 hour cycle because each day I get to have at least one big meal. For instance, dinner 8pm sunday evening to start the fast and then monday if I was getting hungry i knew that at 8pm that evening I was gonna have whatever I wanted pretty much so mentailly it was much easier than having to think about fasting until the next day.

Then for 24 hours I eat to a maintenance level.

No "opinion" to form. The recent science that says it raises cortisol levels and isn't all that great for you is enough for me. Plus looking at the physiques of most distance runners pretty much seals the deal. As I've said before, if you enjoy it, more power to ya, but don't try to pass it off as some kind of healthy lifestyle when research is starting to show otherwise.

You've had it put in your head that running for endurance/long distances will be good for you which, at one time, WAS the school of thought. Recent science is starting to show otherwise. I'm all about the science, functionality and building a better mousetrap, bro. I train like an athlete, not a skinny fathlete.

I don't begrudge him for doing what he likes. As I've said, "do what you like." Just don't pass that stuff off as some kind of healthy lifestyle. You're not going to sell me that line of crap when science is showing otherwise. Plus, it's not functional for everyday life.

This skinny fat thing is amusing. To me runners appear to be healthier than people like that fat slob mentioned in another thread who was the first to bench 1000 lbs, but won't see 60.

Who said that "fat slob who was the first to bench 1000 lbs" was healthy? If I'm a betting man, he's getting in minimal to no cardio.

Be "amused" all you want but there's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Just because some of us would prefer to do more INTENSE/more BRIEF workouts than beating the Hell out of our joints and raising our cortisol levels for 30+ minutes doesn't mean we look like, or want to for that matter, that "fat slob who was the first to bench 1000 lbs."

My personal preference is to be lean, muscular & strong....not look like some Ethiopian (I use this example as they and Nigerian distance runners are the poster children for thin as a rail/unhealthy looking distance runners) distance runner because I've beat the Hell out of my body, wasting muscle.

Yeah, I'm all on the Nutribullet bandwagon. I needed to increase my veggie intake and blending them up with fruits, nuts, etc. is the way to go.

Not, it pulverizes them, no problem. Did you even read the recipe book and/or guide? It suggests adding nuts to pretty much all of the recipes.

I'm not sure about the "Magicbullet" though, mine has more powerful motor.

I did that too and my shakes were tasting like a mix of kale and mud. It's all about the ratios.
