It might very well be some homegrown nut jobs who have taken this technique for their own, but I found this on nbcnews about pressure cooker bombs.
One of the three devices that was to be used in an attempted bomb attack in Times Square in 2010 was a pressure cooker. Earlier that year, terrorists used a pressure cooker bomb in an attack in Pakistan. And in 2006, more than 130 people were killed on the transit system of Mumbai, India, when pressure cookers loaded with explosives were placed on trains.

I think this is somewhat interesting....They are trying to pinpoint the exact moment of explosions so they can then potentially identify a cell number used. In other words, despite all the tech they supposedly have, the sheer volume of calls on the area towers means they have to narrow the list to a tiny window of time.

I hope these prove to be false alarms. But I'd rather not speculate about the implications of no one coming forward to take credit. Hopefully it's just a case of one or two nutjobs that will eventually run their mouth.

Everyone has seen the video of the old marathoner guy falling when the first explosion goes off.

Bill Iffrig. 78 years old and running nearly a 4 hour flat marathon at Boston. Bastard terrorists almost prevented him from finishing. He still got up, told one of the medics he didn't need a wheelchair and finished.
