I don't like Reno. But he was very good to my late father. They were very close friends. For that reason I will respect him.
You've said a lot of stupid shit on this thread. Literally no one has come to your defense or sided with you. What you have said is just wrong, and shows how fucked up the steubenville "fans/community" are with football. It's scary and also telling when you are literally the only one agreeing with what you are saying. I'm in my early 20's, you are in your 60's, and I know a lot more about morals and common sense than you have learned in 40 more years on this earth. You are a piece of shit and don't even know it.
FairwoodKing;1352004 wrote:Why does the Reno situation have to black or white? Reno is a very complicated person with many shades of gray. I am the first to say that he handled the rape case very poorly. He has a reputation for being very protective of his boys. This time he went too far. As far as his treatment of the reporter, I don't like reporters. Reno has a big mouth but he is a very peaceful man. He wouldn't hurt a fly. As I have already mentioned, he once threatened me in front of the entire Boosters Club. He came storming into the room yelliing, "Where's Fairwoodking?" So much for him not doing the internet. He never laid a finger on me and I knew he wouldn't.
On the good side, Reno has been very kind to people who needed kindness. He was extremely kind to my elderly father. They were great friends. Reno would sometimes ask Dad what Big Red football was like in the 1920's, '30's, '40's, and '50's. Dad saw all those teams. Reno would ask what the lineups were like, what kind of players they had, what the competition was like, etc. But Reno's greatest accomplishment in kindness is what he has done for Matt Firm. He has treated this boy like a king and has done everything possible to help him.
Reno deserves to keep his job. This has nothing to do with football. You don't fire an employee of 30+ years just because he made one foul-up. I don't like him, but I'm on his side. If you choose to disagree with me, that's your perogative. But I'm not changing my mind.
FairwoodKing;1352659 wrote:You obviously didn't read what I said. I have hired and fired people. In no case was football involved. I was a manager in the health care industry. I never fired a long-term employee for making one mistake, no matter how bad it was. I dealt out certain punishments, but I did not terminate the employee.
Reno should be given the same courtesy. He has done a lot of good for this community. Just ask Matt Firm. What he has done for that boy may not assure him a job, but it does assure him a place in Heaven. And I can also speak from first-hand knowledge of the good he did to my late father.
Reno didn't rape anybody, and some of you are trying him in the court of opinion as if he did. He is guilty of handling a situation poorly.
Now having said all that, I have the suspicion that Reno has to go, not because of the girl but because of the football team. I can only suspect that parents will take their boys to other schools because of what Reno did or supposedly did. I am very loyal to Big Red, and not because of the football team. I received a very good education and was well-prepared for college. I will defend Big Red to my dying day. It's worth defending.
FairwoodKing;1353098 wrote:Again, you people need to learn how to read. I never at any point said the girl deserved to be raped. Rape is a serious crime. No one deserves to be raped.
I have said over and over that the boys should be tried in adult court, and if found guilty, should spend many years in jail. If they are guilty (and that's up to the court to decide), they committed a terrible crime and they need to pay.
On another blog, I went into great detail as to what the problems of this case were. My opening statement was that everyone involved in this case is guilty of something.
