Tim Tebow was top 4 in QB rating all 3 years he was a starter. The hype was a product of his play.

Manziel picked up his nickname due to his play long before the media ever picked up on it.

LOL
Ole Miss has a higher ranked defense than MSU. Missouri was 1 below MSU. Shows how much you know.

but it WAS media hype, nonetheless, just like it is with Manziel (and it makes no difference when he got it, but, as I stated, it's the fact that the media has drawn on it ad nauseam, ala Tebow)....btw, you obviously profess to know all things Manziel, so please tell me when he did receive this "long" derived nickname, for curiosity sake.

They were referring to him as Johnny Football on Reddit before the season started

also, here are wins of the powerhouses Manziel beat up on this year according to LJ:

Jackson St, Auburn, Troy, South Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mid Tennessee, Arkansas

SE Louisiana, Arizona St, UCF, Kentucky, Tennessee

Central Arkansas, UTEP, Tulane, Auburn, Arkansas, Miss St

Tell me how impressive those defenses had to be to run those gauntlets.

Just so you don't have to do the math, LJ. That group had ONE win against a BCS program not from the SEC.

eh, hardly a meltdown, dlazz (i'm guessing). if LJ and jordo are going to say how great the SEC teams Manziel played well against are, I'm going to show them they are wrong.

Never said they were great. Please quote, thanks. Just showing that he had good numbers against some defenses that weren't awful.

Karen do you think Shazier should have got an invite to New York?

Shazier had more tackles, sacks, passes defended and forced fumbles. He also had more tackles for loss than Te'o and even scored a TD

You are pretty smart and I'm not sure how this is relevant SEC schedule strength, but...

no, he was possibly (?) the best player on an average defense. I'm not sure why all you can think of are stats. Shouldn't Jordan Lynch have beaten out Manziel in your opinion? He had better stats?

So what is the award about then? Is it not about stats at all? Is it only about integrity and leadership for you? Or battling adversity? Or having a sad story

And intense media hype. Johnny Football will be under great pressure next season to repeat.
