Pretty sure they would sign him and he wouldnt play until next season. Much like they did with Leon Powe a few years ago.

Waiters hit a nice shot put the Cavs up 2 with 10 seconds left. Then I have no idea what he was doing defensively and gave up a corner 3 for the Spurs game winner with 2.9 left.

Not a good game for Kyrie.

He missed 3 dunk shots probably. I don't know, I didn't watch the game but he is terrible.

Dion definitely went from hero to zero in about 6 seconds.

It doesn't help that Kyrie has his worst game of his career... But I do like how Dion took this loss. You can tell it bothered him and he was upset. Learning experience.

Just saw the play again this morning. Looks like Dion was stuck in no mans land running to the hoop to try and help Zeller contain Parker from hitting a game tying layup. Then Parker kicked it out to Leonard for the go ahead three instead. Tough spot for him to be in but hopefully a learning experience.

Chad Ford's latest draft board has a shout out to the Cavs in the write up about Otto Porter.

7. Otto Porter

SCHOOL: G'town
CLASS: So.
HT/WT: 6-8, 200
POS: SF

15.3 ppg
1.9 spg
1 bpg

Porter is quietly putting up a season worthy of consideration for the Wooden Award. With very little talent around him, he has led Georgetown to eight wins in their past nine games in Big East play. He not only is carrying the offensive load, but does all of the other little things on both ends of the floor that help his team win. He would be a terrific fit on a team like the Cavs.

That write up is a little harsher too since it hasn't been updated since July. I wonder what they'd have him rated today. ESPN updates their scouting reports on players pretty frequent. Here's what they have to say in the last write up.

Jan 30 Update: Porter continues to grow as both a player and as the go-to guy for Georgetown. With second-leading scorer Greg Whittington out for academic reasons, Porter has taken on an increased offensive load. Over the past five games without Whittington, Porter is averaging 19 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from 3-point range and 59 percent from the field. More importantly, Georgetown has a couple of big wins over ranked opponents in Notre Dame and Louisville. The two biggest concerns scouts had about Porter coming into the season were his jump shot and his ability to be a go-to player. He's done a great job of answering both question marks the past two weeks.

Strengths:

Long, wiry wing
Excellent mid range game
Good ball handler
Can shoot off the dribble
Good passer, unselfish Improved three point shooter

Weaknesses

Needs to add strength

Sounds like Tayshaun Prince 2.0 to me. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Hopefully more scoring, and defensive stats than Prince. I'd like him to be more athletic as well. Prince has never been a good scorer, and while a great defender back in the day, he was never a blks/steals guy. Also for his length, I would expect more rebound production.

Not that there's anything impressive about playing well in the Rising Stars game, but Kyrie had 32, Waiters had 23, and TT had 20.

Kyrie and Dion were top 2 in scoring for Team Shaq and TT was 2nd for Chuck. Dion and TT went a combined for 20/22.

20-22 is a horrible percentage when only shooting dunk shots. Should of been 22-22. They suck.

Cavaliers to submit proposal to bring All-Star Game to Cleveland in 2016 or 2017

By Jason Lloyd
M

HOUSTON: The Cavaliers are expected to submit a proposal to bring the NBA All-Star Game back to Cleveland during either the 2016 or 2017 season, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert told the Beacon Journal.

NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver visited Cleveland last week to explore the feasibility of bringing the All-Star Game back to the city and encouraged the Cavs to bid on a future game.

The All-Star Game was last in Cleveland in 1997, when the league assembled the 50 greatest players of all time.

“We had a great experience when we were there in ’97,” Silver said. “We would love to return to Cleveland.”

And Gilbert would love to have them.

“The league is very receptive and open to it,” Gilbert said. “As soon as this [All-Star weekend] is over, we’ll start talking more seriously about it.

“The city would be unreal. It would be a great weekend.”

Silver met with Gilbert and his staff last Friday. One of the questions that must be answered is whether the city has enough available hotel rooms to accommodate the event, which has grown considerably in the last 16 years since Cleveland hosted. Gilbert didn’t have the numbers in front of him and doesn’t know yet if the city has the proper accommodations. But since the game wouldn’t come for another three or four years, Gilbert is confident the city would be ready.

Next year’s game is slated for New Orleans and Silver confirmed Saturday both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets have submitted proposals already for 2015. Silver said it was likely the game is headed to one of the two New York venues in two years.

Gilbert would like to have the second phase of his casino open before an All-Star Game. There is no timeline for the second phase to open, but Gilbert said there is a meeting next month to address the progress.

With the new medical mart and convention center coming, Gilbert thinks Cleveland would be a great host city.

“I’d say this is a major initiative,” Gilbert said.

Commissioner David Stern, who is retiring next February, called that moment his second-favorite All-Star memory behind only awarding Magic Johnson the Most Valuable Player award following the 1992 game, after Johnson retired because of the HIV.

“As the executive producer of that moment, that is a close second [to Johnson’s MVP game],” Stern said of the ’97 game in Cleveland. “To get those 49 guys, and we knew it was the last time we were ever going to get them together like that, and to put them in a jacket of the team that they represented, that was a big thrill, too.
