Now that the Indians' baseball season has (mercifully) come to an end, and the Browns are already out of any playoff consideration (as if there was ever a possibility) we might as well turn some of out attention to the Cavs. Can they have the most successful season of the 3 Cleveland teams? It certainly wouldn't take much to accomplish that. On the other hand, they are nationally regarded as one of the bottom 3 teams in the league at this point; Waiters has been less than underwhelming (can't believe we spent a 4 pick on him...), and vets Parker and Jamison are both gone (not that they would have carried us too far anyways). Do we have any chance of making the playoffs, or at least pleasantly suprising many by being more than just competetive?

We have a "shot" I guess depending on TT, health of Varejao, and how Waiters performs. I don't see it happening barring a trade though.

I am stoked for the cavs season. Excited to see what waiters brings to the table. Excited to see kyrie at full strength with a year under his belt. I don't expect a ton of wins, we will be slightly under 500. Not a bottom 3 team though

I'm excited for the season. I don't expect a ton of winning but I'm anxious to see everyone develop. Hopefully the rooks meet expectations and kyrie and tt take a step forward. I'm also hoping we can trade Andy for a decent pick or starting SF.

I'm excited to see what kyrie can do. Most of the players/people around team USA wanted kyrie on the Olympic team after the scrimmages. Waiters is going to be the key this year. Hopefully he becomes a stud.

You don't have to be good, but generally .500 is required (few exceptions now and then). Are the Cavs a .500 team? I hope so. Kyrie should be fun to watch. I don't know much about Waiters but as mentioned, it doesn't sound too great so far.

I'm really interested to see how Varejao will change his play style in response to the new rule (assuming they stand).

Im pretty sure we have 6 first rounders in the next 3 years, even if we arent completely shitty, we still have some ammo to move up or trade. I'd really like us to make a move in FA, though I dont think anyone this year looks particularly interesting.

Ill be OK with us being bad or around .500. I see us as close to a .500 team barring injuries.

Thing about the NBA is that multiple 1st round selections aren't valuable like they are in the NFL. If its not a top 3~5 pick, you're missing out on a top talent. Bulls weren't going to trade the #1 pick to any team for a draft pick. Could have been #2 and #10, they're taking Rose.

Thats true, but depending on the draft you can still find some solid prospects in the teens, like Houston did this year.

I think CJ Miles is going to fit in well at SF. Hopefully I never see Casspi play a meaningful minute for the Cavs agian. I liked him coming from Sacramento, but he stunk it up here.

I'm trying to think of a best case scenario and I think it boils down to this:

KI, DW, TT, and TZ show great potential (we obviously know about KI). Growing pains for sure, but hopefully flashes. We ship Varejao out and acquire a draft pick. Finish with a record of around 30-52 with wins over the Heat, Lakers, and Celtics just for sh*ts and giggles. Get a top 10 pick, and hopefully a top 20 pick with the Varejao trade.

Now that the offseason dust has all settled, I could see anything from 10th (unlikely) to 13th in the East. We'll finish ahead of Charlotte. I hope we finish ahead of Orlando, that roster looks like a disaster.

I think we'll be right there with Detroit and possibly Toronto (depends on if Jonas V is legit and NBA-ready). I expect maybe 48-52 losses, but maybe Kyrie will be able to put the team on his back and elevate that a little.

It'll be interesting to see how Waiters turns out, if he turns it around from Summer. Gotta' imagine he's the top variable for predicting their success this season. That and the health of Irving and Varejao (if he remains on the team).
