Talked to a Germany exchange student and he said he was surprised that in schools yesterday they didnt mention or do anything regarding the anny of 9/11.
He said in Germany every 9/11 they have things about it in school, and he spoke with friends from back home yesterday and said they talked and had documentaries and such in their school over there yesterday.

Is this common in the US y athink?

Is it better we just forget what happened? Does it bring up too much bad feelings to show the stuff and have school events about it?

That's pretty sad. At 8:48, or whatever the time it was that the buildings were hit, we had a moment of silence and our Senior class president gave a monologue.

I get people having a moment of silence, but I don't understand when some people get upset when other people choose to recognize it differently.

I asked my 3rd grade son if they talked about it at all yesterday in his class. I guess I was a little surprised they didn't at all. But then again, when I was in school it's not like we talked about world war 2 dates every year, unless it was a history class or what not.

we had a moment of silence at 9:11 not sure if that was planned or not but i assumed it was.

3rd grade may be a little young for them to discuss it possibly.
Kid I was talking to is a Jr in HS and he brought it up to me that he was surprised that nothing was said/done.

Just was throwing it out there.

Sure. I didn't care. I just figured they might discuss it as an historical event, especially since they would be hearing it from others and seeing it on tv, etc., all day.

We shouldn't forget, but I have to be honest, I get REALLY sick of people using it as an excuse to advertise how patriotic they want everyone to think they are. A moment of silence and ensuring that all our children learn about it in school will suffice.
