While the dude was dead with a good throw from Santana, you cant assume it. Cueto easily scores on the Votto groundout, I would think. That run should be earned.
I didn't see the play....but Hammy confirmed the guy was dead. You can definitely make an assumption on a play like that. The only time you can't assume something is a DP...which is one of the dumbest rules in baseball.

Jeanmar was drafted in the same round as I was. Just a little hint there.

That is interesting....I never heard that before when applied to a pick off

That may be true, I have no clue, but it is not ever interpreted that way. A good throw nails a lot of guys stealing. But they arent given errors when the guy is safe. Was he going to be out? Probably. Was he stuck in the middle of 1st and 2nd? No. He was diving back. He wouldve been out by less than a foot, hardly "dead". That run should be earned, no doubt about it.

Like I said...I didn't see the play. Hamilton said the guy was going to be out. The official scorer agreed with Hamilton. If that's the case. then the run has to be unearned.

Case in point. Sac fly with one out...and the throw beats the runner, but the catcher drops the ball...it is an error and an unearned run. This play...same scenario...other than who receives the error.

Are you somehow saying that if a guy drops the throw when the runner was going to be out...it is not ruled an error? Really?

When a guy is thrown out at second on a steal attempt...only to have the SS drop the ball...it is always ruled an error as in every single time.

No, I wasn't being a smartass, I had never seen this happen....or at least paid attention to the official scoring on it. Even though I am sure it is fairly common

I expect ANY starter to be able to go more than 5 innings.
...and Gomez did. He was taken out of the game with his team solidly in the game. In contrast, the bullpen gave up 5 runs in 4 innings.
Other than the the closer and set up guys, the rest of the pen has been spotty at best.

This. I think people over estimate the tribe bullpen.

When we have the lead we have possibly a top 3 bullpen in the league but when we're losing it's a bottom 3 bullpen lol

actually I was wrong ...the BP gave up 5 runs in 3 innings...the Reds didn't have to bat in the 9th.

He kept us in the game, but he couldnt make it past the 5th. That sucks. It isnt horrible like giving up 6 runs and only going 5. But it isnt good.

Bunt singles and power from Kipnis.

You don't see a lot of #3 hitters bunting.

Our pitching is really weak. If we are in contention, Id rather they get a pitcher than a bat. But a RH power bat would be nice.
