this. the canadian guy was obviously trying to cause trouble or he wouldnt have been recording this incident. the 3:45 and 4:50 mark clearly shows how much of an ass the canadian guy is. he said he was mad at the process, so right there is proof he was looking to stir up something to prove his point. treat others how you want to be treated. the canadian douche was treated like a douche.

All I know is, I deal with a lot of Canadians here in te summer and they all, for the most part, suck.

For some reason, they have inferiority complex with Americans and come over here with crabby attitudes. By far the worst demographic I deal with. New Yorkers being a distant 2nd.

Considering that we import more oil from Canada than anywhere, and they provide stations for things like NORAD....they're still pretty damn important.

1. The U.S. border agents were certainly bored and being dicks.
2. The Canadian was copping a "your questions are stupid and you're a stupid American for asking me your stupid American questions" attitude.

Totally unnecessary from both parties.

As much as it sucks, if you just answer his questions as politely as possible, no matter how ridiculous, you won't be detained.

Just answer questions like Con_Alma would.

"Our trip is planned only on a general location and not on specific areas of interest. When in the general location, my wife and I will make the determination as to where our time is best spent in that general location. That's a retarded thing to say, because he did answer the question. His response was "I don't know". Believe it or not, malls have dozens of stores.

Knowing what store you'll visit in a mall is completely irrelevant to border crossing. It only ended up mattering because the border guard decided to be a dick and make it matter instead of just using common sense.

I've been stopped by or in contact with police a hand full of times and have never had a negative experience. I'm guessing one reason for that is I cooperate and don't act like an asshole.

That's pretty irrelevant here.
The guy is doing a job. He may be doing it badly, but if you don't want to be detained, just answer his questions no matter how stupid, as politely as possible. After you return, you can file a complaint with his supervisor.

I'm sorry but the canadian wasn't being much more of a dick than the border patrol officer. Also, do you guys think that every person who gives a slightly smartass response gets detained? That's fucking retarded.
