No, absolutely not. The HP umpire should have overruled... if he was asked, of course. Maybe it's different in the majors. Just b/c of this one play, no, baseball does not need instant replay.

Well if you take that play and the hundreds that are missed each year, you can definitely make an argument for it.

The unwritten rule that umps shouldn't overturn eachother's calls is what needs changed.

Baseball sucks anyway. Might as well get Robots to play, because they could offer a free lotto ticket per hour of baseball watch and I'd still rather watch paint dry.

Just have an ump in a booth (like in the NFL) reviewing all close plays. He can buzz down if there is a blown call. No interruption unless a manager comes out to complain but that happens anyway. No need to give managers "challengers" or anything. Just an ump in a booth.

The "human element" argument is bullshit, too. I don't pay good money to go to games to watch some dumbass umpire blow a call. Get the calls correct.
