Politics has been the downfall of indian creek for years but this is about the poy. What about cotey wallace from brooke he had over 2100 yds passing and over 1100 yds rushing and around 40 tds plus he played defense and nobody seems to mention him. These awards make nice paper weights but don't mean squat when it comes time to enter the real world and become a productive member of society.Check back in a couple of years and see what is happening.

I didn't say either wouldn't play, I am sure they would. I just said they would not be a starter at LB or QB respectively.

How about when Eric Minor says"rather" when he makes a mistake. He has everyone there doing that now.Speaking of the awards show I watched and when Eric Minor introduced rather tried to introduce Don Sloan they show Metzger.I knew the show was doomed right then.

No, He is not my son or relative. Yes I am dead serious that he is better than Pettaway. Lets see some numbers. And the fact that he played every down of every game on both sides even cements my argument more.
Well if he was such a great defender then why did he have to play every down?
What kind of real competition did he face?

If I start a team tomorrow I would pick Otto over Pettaway every day.
For some reason I find the above statement extremely hard to believe!

Speaking of Macon, word i saw last night one espn said C. Michigan's coach is going to Cincy. If it happens, think he'll decommitt and follow Collaros or keep with his commitment to CM?

OVAC awards mean absolutely nothing to Big Red personnel!
But if you can actually come on here and honestly say that D Macon doesn't deserve this award, you're crazy!
If you need a second opinion ask the D1 coaches association!
I'm sure they would love to hear your argument!

The players that won the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, hold offers from multiple D1 schools. So it is obvious their talent has translated to college programs making those decisions and thier play on the field speaks for itself.

Bobby Spence-I love this kid as a player, and 20+ interceptions in 2 years is unreal, but he plays is a low profile program by Ohio Valley standards and by rights should have been standing with the Top 5 players of the year nominees in my opinion.

Max Nogay-He is a very good player for his level and if he chooses will have the chance to play football in college at the D3/NAIA level. He is a good athlete and will do well at that level of competition.

These awards are so arbitrary, and what most fail to realize it that every kid on every roster should be awarded for all they do from winter workouts, to summer conditioning, 2 a days, 4 Practices a week and then gamedays, and thats does not take into consideration the time they must put in the classroom in order to play. And guess what they are not getting paid to do it!!!
It makes me sick to read the negativity from fans, these are kids, let them enjoy what they are doing, becuase if you took a survery of the kids about awards not one would care whether they won or lost.
And I guess to start a discussion within a discussion, if the players that won are in question, and the players that lost are seemingly better, ask yourself this could any of those guys that did not win, take the place of those that did in their program? Simply put, could any of them be starters at Big Red, since that is where the two winner came from.
Here is my answer: Spence-Yes, Otto-No, Nogay-No again nothing against those players but all things being equal I do not think they could start, could they play yes, but be starters no.

We can complain back and forth all day about who is better than who, who plays a tougher schedule, who is going D1, and who's D*** is bigger, the fact of the matter is Big Red has a very talented team year in and year out. Most of the other area schools aim to have the success they do. I agree that Macon is a very good athlete, however no matter where he goes, I do not see him playing one down as a QB in college. Safety or receiver... Petteway is a very talented played also. He will likely get a scholarship to play somewhere, but it also helps to have great players around you that make the defense what it is no matter what kind of competition you play. Having the kind of coaching Big Red has with Pierro on defense along with kids who know his scheme allows players to have a spotlight. How big that spotlight is depends on the players around you. Put Petteway on Edison's team and he is their leading tackler, but how big is the spotlight? We can go on and on all day back and forth, I believe Petteway was a good pick for defensive POY, but there were a few others including Otto from Creek that made noise. Their spotlights just weren't as big as Petteway's. I am a firm believer in no matter where you play, if you bust your ass you will get the rewards. Look for Otto to step up the heat next year...

My sister played softball her freshman year at Catholic Central and then the next 3 years at Wintersville and lettered all 4 years. She could throw the ball from center field to home plate without a bounce and get it there quickly. Her onbase percentage was huge. She was a truely gifted softball player. No one came to Wintersville to look at players so her coach, Coach DiCarlo went to work. He was able to get Youngstown State to look at her and offer. She started at Y-town as a freshman. The reason I say this is because it doesn't always matter where you play... Its how you play. Small school, big school it doesn't matter. Talent will find its way to the next level.
