25% is only one out of four. I saw a few other players execute similar shots this weekend.

Yeah...3 players losing at 8 under par...real sloppy. The scoring was pretty good this year.

Hard to play that course on a Sunday and make a real move - usually that happens if there's rain involved during the tourney to slow the greens (see Tiger's huge run in 2005), it's a pretty unforgiving course in normal weather.

I vote not douche and course is impossible to play under normal conditions.

You saw a few other players draw it 30 yards from 155 yards out from the woods to 10 feet? I missed those.
Rors cut was the only shot vaguely similar.

Hooding a wedge into an 8 and a half iron...inside outing the swing....on a lie that's better than a fairway...is not hard to do...period. Especially when the pin is in the middle back of the green. The topspin will allow the ball to roll after hitting the green. A green that size...the pros will hit it 75% of the time.

What exactly is your problem here anyway? I said it was a good shot...and it was. Don't make it out to be anything more than that. As for great shots by Bubba....his approach on 15 and tee shot on 16 were better shots...and Bubba would attest to it. without either of those, obviously, he loses the tournament.

Trampled on hardpanned pine straw is hardly better than the fairway.. its way more difficult of a shot. You mention the top spin like it's a good thing. It's practically impossible to control distance with top spin and that's my point. My point is you're guessing the right amount of hook and how much it's going to run out and how it's going to bounce when it lands.. 1/4 of pros aren't getting thsat to 10 feet. That's the point. It was a lot of luck getting it that close. Majority of the shots are going to roll off the back of the green.

Don't equate trampled straw to hard pan...ever. The pros will hit off trampled straw every time with a huge smile on their face. As for the top spin...yes it is a good thing...when the pin is in the back and the green is heavily sloped from back to front.

You are not going to run through that green when the ball is climbing a virtual mountain. And yes, at least one out of 5 pro golfers will hit it to 15 feet or better on that hole, pin location and green layout...with a hooded wedge in hand off a great lie like that.

So that's why every other pro is gushing over the shot.. b/c most can do it? ok.
B/c it's really easy to keep good footing on pinestraw and it's really easy to guess if it's going to be a flyer or you're going to hit it slightly fat and it goes 30 ft and its really easy to address it and make sure the ball doesn't move right? Come on man. Even Bubba admits it's a lucky shot.

The only problem I have with that photo is that its just a drawing. Does the person who made it actually have the above angle of the flight. I mean, where the ball ended up and where he hit it from are insane regardless. But the actual flight might not have been like that.

I'll probably hit that same shaped shot several times the first night of my golf league. Only difference is I swing right handed and I won't be trying to.

Not just current guys gushing over Bubba's shot....

The GOAT:
"When you're playing a hook it usually takes off. But that ball danced like it had a lot of backspin on it. I saw that ball hit the green and I said, 'Wow.' That was something. Not only did he play the shot, but he played the shot and ended up with control at the end of the shot -- which I thought was the amazing part. That will go down as one of the great shots ever played in the game.'' -- Jack Nicklaus on Bubba Watson's second shot to the second playoff hole at the Masters.

In the masters in a playoff with your opponent in far better position...that's what made it insanity.

Simply "hooding your club" does not mean you will even come close to executing that shot.

I mean, obviously it's just that easy. Why else would people who have covered the game for years talk for days about how difficult the shot was?
