3 hits and 12 K's for McGee. Slowly hitting his stride after I am on the hook to buy some wings. Just my luck.

I was unable to see the game that Mcgee pitched against WH. My oldest plays varsity, while the youngest was playing frosh/jv. I was with my youngest that night. I think McGee may have been pressing just a bit at the start of the season. but he seems to have found his groove.

I agree. Luke seems to have settled into his game. A ton of pressure at the outset of the season on him.

Best game I have seen Luke pitch ever. Was a pitcher not a thrower, mixed pitches well. If not for a miss played fly ball Wooster wins 1-0. Tip my hat to both pitchers. Neither team will go far if they can't hit top notch pitching, 1 ball hit well by either team, Kerr's double off the fence. Orrville batters looked at way to many pitches, were not aggresive at all at the plate.

Kerr missed a HR by 1 foot....maybe less.

Maybe I am reading your post wrong...but are you saying that we had a kid leave second base when a ball is hit in the air, doesn't go half way or even come back to tag up? That doesn't sound like a coaching problem...that sounds like a kid that has no clue how to run the bases...half way on a ball hit in the air, tag after it is caught, stay on a good throw or try and force a bad throw...don't need a coach to tell ya that!Red Rider;1159898 wrote:Kerr doubles to start the inning. Pinch runner put in game. No bunt, no steal, nothing to manufacture a run. 3 outs in a row. The. We have a runner on second get thrown out at third on a fly ball to center. He is relying on coach to hold him up otherwise he is tagging and going. We lost too many close games this year. It's easy when runs are coming in droves, it is the tight games where strategy is needed the we are falling short.
Stupid base running...period!

He was tagging on a medium deep fly to right center.

Wooster 3
Orrville 2
7-5 in the OCC with Ashland next week. If we lose 2 games to Ashland and Wooster and Clear Fork split, we end up tied with CF for 4th place. If Wooster sweeps, we are 4th place alone. Pretty disappointing all things considered...

West Holmes 9
Clear Fork 5
If Orrville can't get their juggernaut travel players to man up and beat Ashland, WH will finish 2nd place.

Just count on being second and then ask anyone who remembers/cares who finished second place for the rest of your life.

I know it might sound bitter, but it is fact. WH has had plenty of success in sports...enough to recognize that second, third or whatever is irrelevant. Granted our baseball program has had a poor record for several years now, but the standard never changes. Losing twice to CF and Wooster is simply not acceptable. I'll finish it like this, we allowed 3 runs in each of the losses to Wooster without making a single error. The team batting average is .356 heading into the Wooster series. We have not won a single game this year by one run. Of our 6 losses, 3 were by 1 runs or less, 2 were by 2 runs and 1 by 3 runs. 3 of those losses were with the winning team only scoring 3 runs. Great programs win close games.

West Holmes...
Didn't win OCC
Won't win state
Isn't the best team in Holmes county (population 48,000)
I guess I understand your bitterness.

Fail, never said it. However, your coach is always good for the lulz.ridernation;1161142 wrote:We have to be good we beat you guys once and according to you you're the greatest.
See ladies, this is what makes rivalries fun. Good natured ribbing with an occasional zinger! We destroyed your tennis team last night too! Our wrestling program is one of the tops in the area...yours, ummm not so much.
Now sack up those Orrville boys and try and beat Ashland.
Side note, we may have a short tny road. Injury bug may have hit us at the worst possible time. Will know more maybe later today.

Serious question...How many individual state champ wrestlers does WH have?Mr. 300;1161615 wrote:Fail, never said it. However, your coach is always good for the lulz.

22 playoff appearances. 13 regional final appearances. 9 state semifinal appearances.Red Rider;1160910 wrote:I know it might sound bitter, but it is fact. WH has had plenty of success in sports...enough to recognize that second, third or whatever is irrelevant.
4 state championship appearances. 1998 state champions. TRADITION!
Interesting, and I disagree by the way, according to Red Rider all those are irrelevant except the State Championship in 98'.
As for baseball, I think you have a good baseball team, good enough to make at least a small run in the playoffs, and look out in a year or two if they all keep playing.
For state champion wrestlers, I only know of two maybe 3. Spohnsellor, Hawkins, and maybe Carmony, but not sure he won. I will have to go back in the books to see.

Colt with 3, THawk with 1. Total of 4. I don't think Clint won a championship. Will need to dig through how many podiums we have over the years.
