On the market originally at 2.8 million and Meyers snags it for 1.45 million? Not bad.

So does the 1.35 million difference constitute capital gains? If so, Urban needs to pay more of his fair share. Rich bastard. ;)

Couple points.

He didn't get some super great deal. The $2.8 and $1.8 list prices are irrelevant. Remember the market we are currently in. I also question that square footage. I bet the realtor came up with that figure.

And based on LJ's link it's much smaller. The auditor GLA is also 9351. The realtor likely included the finished basement.

Damn, I used to live right by there. Nice gated part of Muirfield that (as of 12 years ago) you could just drive up to and drive around to gawk at the houses.

Yeah, I talked to over a dozen people who claimed to be friends with the realtor who sold Meyer his house in UA. I knew he was getting hired before most as my source was about as high up as you can get at OSU. I posted that a while back and was met with all sorts of KIA bullshit.

Never claimed he bought a house to live in himself. I've always known what he bought in UA was rental property as an investment. There are a few small companies going in and buying up smaller houses in parts of UA and renting them out while holding them with the hopes of selling them later for more $$ to people who want to tear them down and build new due to UA being landlocked. A small partnership that Urban is part of bought some of these properties. A good friend of mine had to speak with them multiple times about some zoning issues and concerns.
