There are rumors buzzing around that the motivation for the shooting was based on fake drugs having been sold to the shooter.

i just realized the shooter didnt go to the school? How did he get in? In our district all doors are secured and the only door you can get in is by the office and then you have to sign in...most schools actually have a buzzer for you to get in as well

If he didn't go to the school, then there was some serious breaching. But in all reality, he could have gotten in in the morning with the rest of students.

Five students were shot at Chardon High School at about 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The alleged shooter, T.J. Lane, was a student at a nearby alternative school.

apparently he went to a school nearby for students with behavior problems

Lane did not go to Chardon High, instead attending nearby Lake Academy, which is for students with academic or behavioral problems.

I got the impression the shooter was there because students within the school district meet there then are taken/bussed over to the alternative and/or JVS schools.

Or some people aren't reactionaries.
Also when we talk about generations, I don't recall kids shooting up schools in my days.
You didn't pay attention then.

Just because your district had it, means all other districts must too!

He just died. I couldn't find anything on him yet. Besides the fact that his family was sad.

I lisended to some coverage on ABC radio today, the shooter had attended Chardon HS, but was now attending another school. They also interviewed some students who knew him and they all said he always seemed like a pretty nice kid.

Hewlin's family issued a statement praising their son and asking for privacy.
“We are very saddened by the loss of our son and others in our Chardon community,” the statement read.
“Demetrius was a happy young man who loved life and his family and friends. We will miss him very much but we are proud that he will be able to help others through organ donation. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time,” the family asked.

So you acknowledge you made a generalization without even a 10 second google search to find what the reality is. Like I said, maybe it's not that some people are "afraid to say what needs to be said," but that some people aren't reactionaries who fly off into sweeping generalizations and criticisms any time there's a tragedy involving young people.

No I'll still call it what it is exactly what I said it is!! I was referring to the school shooting stats and the reason it seemed like there weren't a number of comparison to today.

No, you were supporting your argument that one generation is superior to another by generalizing that in your recollection, school shootings didn't happen "in your day."

See below:

This later turned out to be untrue, which a 10 second google search could have confirmed for you. But like I said, you're a reactionary and decided to just run with your assumption.

The predictability of the "this generation sucks, mine was better" crowd coming into this thread makes it pretty funny though.

But that had nothing to do with what I called the situation and my reaction of not being PC and calling the kid a bitch and a coward. Doesn't change that! Also you feel the need to point this out after I admitted it myself but as I state I still don't know why it gets to that point. Whether its a generation thing, etc...I don't have the answers and either do you!

Agreed, but I'm not the one that tried to generalize an entire generation as inferior in some way. The generalizing is nothing more than an example of Serial position effect, which always comes into play in instances like this.
