Caught a few eps of a car repo show last night and man.....some people are absolutely N U T S! One guy pulls a knife and got drilled, one guy they found a bunch of sex stuff in his trunk and his wife, who was hot, went furious, another chick told her roommate she got fake tits with the $$ she was paying her for the car!

Crazy shit!

Had a friend of mine a few years ago who worked for a bank. They were having a terrible time getting a vehicle repo'd. Couldnt catch up with it for MONTHS. There finally was a break and they suspected it would be driven to a funeral and wondered if that would be out of line to repo it there!

My brother-in-law does it on the side with a buddy of his.

Nothing like going to Detroit to get a 2009 Mercedes Benz from a house with bars on the windows and tarp on the roof (actually happened).

They both have their CCD and are advised to carry "something." He was on one a few months ago and actually got into a shoot out with someone over their car. Like I said, most of their jobs are in Detroit.

that would be BRUTAL. Ya have to wonder what people are thinking ya know to get violent. Many argue that they had no clue they were behind and such. I think that is BS. 15 years or so ago I was going through some tough times. I NEVER got 30 days past due on the car payment. Most times it was 7=10 days and I remember being nervous even at that and would get up in the morning and look out to wonder if my car was there. I had no clue how long it took for them to repo one. Those people HAVE to know..and no reason to get violent.

I've never had my car repo'd, because I'm not a deadbeat.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching Lizard Lick Towing every once in a while, though.

He's got a buddy who lives down the street from him. His car has been on the list for 3 years (Kid's never made 1 payment on the car), but the bank/repo company can't find it because it's registered to his mom's address and he lives (unaddressed) with a buddy). Being the good friend he is, by b-i-l doesn't make this known to anyone lol.

It's whoever the dude is. I don't think the car is in his mom's name just registered to her address where the dude doesn't live. At least that how I read the comment.

makes sense, wasn't sure though. I guess as long as the loan is in his name.

Never had one repoed, but did tell the bank to come get a car when i lost my job. I told the bank i couldnt afford it now that ilost my job. They told me cause i wasnt behind on payments they wouldnt come get it. I never paid on that car again. its sitting at my uncles farm where i told them it would be. Its still sitting there today fifteen years later. I check my credit report every year waiting on it to show up but it dont show even though i bought it on credit. Never had a cosigner so not sure what happened.

That's pretty crazy. I would be fun to know what all happened and how it dissapeared.

My friend did the same thing you did called the bank when he was layed off. They told him that since he was enrolled in the auto bill pay online they would just suspended his payments for 6 months until he found a new job. He got one in about 3 months so he didn't have to worry about it getting repoed.

I've never had a car get repoed but I was there when one of my ex-GFs sisters car got repoed funniest thing ever was watching her flip out about it I guess she hadn't made a payment in like 9 months lol.

That was pretty OK of the bank. It helps both sides of course. Your friend gets out of payments for a bit and doesnt get repoed, and the bank still is charging the interest a few extra months. I bet more banks are more helpful if people are just up front with them BEFORE shit gets behind. When you are months behind, and this goes with any bill really, and you ignore them they are less likely to be flexible. If ya lose your job, contact your creditors and let them know and see what can be worked out. The bank probably doesnt want to repo the car. They gotta pay to have that done, then try to sell it at some auction or whatever and make less than what they probably would if the customer went through with the whole loan.

Yes, it's in his name, just mom's address.

He doesn't care if his credit gets screwed up. He doesn't have a bank account and pays everything cash; keeps all of his money in this huge ass safe. He makes pretty decent money (~40-50K)

No one commented on the last part of the OP though.....would doing this at a funeral be out of line if they couldnt track down the vehicle?

Depending on who the person at the funeral was.

Corpse or immediate family? Not funny and inappropriate (unless it's a dead beat son) Anyone else? Funny and would make for good tv.

I'd feel bad about it, but I'm not the one causing the situation. I'd grab the car.

I forget the whole situation around it. I do NOT believe it was the immediate family though and I do not recall if they went through with it or not. He had just asked how inappropriate it would be.
