Pettis is one of my favorite fighters to watch in the UFC. I would argue the way to beat him is by wrestling though. Take him down and lay on him it worked for Guida.

Also when it comes to the smaller guys, i always think about this Joe Rogan line when he talks about the ants: "What, i'm gonna steer you outside? No, you gonna fucking die you're too small... I can't care about you, you're too little"

His wrestling and submission skills have improved a ton though. I think Melendez has the right idea by pressing him so much, but just didn't have the talent to pull it off. Dirty boxing, clinching against the cage, etc. He can submit you on the ground or in transition, and obviously striking at a distance is basically suicide. Khabib might have the grappling though to pull off what Guida did years ago.sportchampps;1711470 wrote:Pettis is one of my favorite fighters to watch in the UFC. It was a great movie, and I don't think it was possibly. He is the ONLY Olympic gold medal wrestler to ever fight in the UFC.sportchampps;1711809 wrote:Foxcatcher is really good about possibly the best wrestler ever in the UFC

I stand corrected. I honestly didn't know Cejudo had made it to the UFC yet. He wasn't even on the Fox 1 feed in December.robj55;1712080 wrote:Didn't Cejudo win a gold medal?

I'm not sure about Lombard. I don't ever remember hearing them say he even competed in the Olympics

Jackson was a beast Lindland had a good MMA run too
There are a lot of other wrestlers that have competed in other organizations outside of the UFC. Guys like Kenny Monday, Kary Colat, etc... I think Dave Schultz may have even fought once but I could be mistaken?

Those were the early days, I think we will see more olympians enter the octagon in the future, potential to make a lot of money.Fab1b;1712182 wrote:Jackson was a beast Lindland had a good MMA run too

It was and a lot of the old timers never evolved but today's wrestlers now have a path to $$. Kids are wrestling now due to MMA!

Looks like the next season of TUF will premier April 22nd. Should be an exciting season - two of the top gyms (American Top Team and the Blackzillians) will square off against each other. Love the idea of this. Wish the UCF would do more of this type of stuff, almost creating like a team/league format where it would be like the Lakers vs. the Celtics.

Crazy prelims, all finishes. Main card should be outstanding.
