For record I think Ronda would beat Cyborg in under a round, Cyborg could KO her because she hits like a man but I doubt she can stay out of the clinch long enough to land anything significant or fight changing.

The person to beat Ronda has to be a tactician, someone who can stay at range and use footwork and pick her apart for 5 rounds. I would say that Holly Holm is that person but she punches into the clinch way too often.

LOL @ "shoulder level". Still.... the fact that she picked Ortiz' large ass up is still pretty impressive, nonetheless.

Side note... Notice the sweat on the mat in that video... something I never really noticed, but I never really see any sweat in the Octagon mat. Are they using a different type of material? (obviously?). i would think that thing would be drenched with sweat after 5-minutes of an MMA fight.

I couldn't remember it had been a few years since I had seen it. I remembered it being much higher but impressive either way.

Yeah but those 2 ladies are the closest thing UFC can get for an interesting match against Rousey..

Carano has no chance at all. I can't believe that is even being discussed.

Cyborg posted a picture on twitter of her weighing 175 lbs after breakfast on Sunday. That is two days after her fight at 145. Cat and Ronda cut a ton of weight for 135, and Cyborg is much bigger. I'm not sure she ever makes that weight anyways.

Ronda actually doesn't cut much weight.

Quote from Ronda "I feel like there's where I'm at my athletic peak. I walk into the Octagon around 148, and I usually walk around at 150."

She has said for years she competed at the Olympics at her walk around weight, didn't cut at all (cutting isn't big in Judo like it is in wrestling I have heard). She competed at 154 in the Olympics if I remember correctly.

Also, for those that blamed Ronda for her actions on TUF against Meisha Tate and how much hate she had for Tate and Caraway...read this, you might have a different view on Tate and Caraway. Caraway sounds like a real douchebag and deserves to get his ass kicked.

15lbs is still a decent weight cut for fighting at 135

Especially for women. Dolce has been quoted as saying the last few pounds for Ronda are as hard as anyone else he's ever worked with. Cyborg seems to have less body fat than Ronda and weighs at least 10 more lbs walking around. I hope this happens though.

15 is a decent cut for a woman, but compared to what Cyborg just posted and was mentioned in the same post as "Ronda cuts a good amount too", I figured you were comparing their two cuts.

Cyborg walks around at least at 165 and posted a picture of herself at 175. She is cutting much more to get to 145 than Ronda or anyone else is cutting to get to 135.

For those that saying Ronda should just take this at a catch weight and shut up because "5 pounds isn't that much". She would be fighting someone legitimately 20 lbs heavier than her with respect to walk around weight and fight day weight.

This isn't just a 5 or 10 lb difference between the two women.

If Cyborg is willing to drain herself/energy down to 135 and/or lose muscle to do it, then it would be more "even".

There is a legit reason you never saw GSP go up to fight Silva or Silva up to fight Bones Jones. Yes, going up a weight class and fighting the contenders can happen and does happen, but going up a weight and fighting the absolute best in the world at that weight basically NEVER happens (Chael Sonnen did it, I know, but he is crazy and look how that turned out vs Jones).

Their size difference is not 'small', but in the end, if Cyborg cuts the muscle to get there I still think Ronda pulls out a win, even though it will be by far her toughest fight ever, and she might finally get her faced wrecked some.

UFC 184 currently estimated at doing 600K PPV buys, about double what I thought it would. Rousey may be a legit PPV star.

I was especially surprised with a rather underwhelming (star power wise) co-main event.

Ronda has turned into a Diaz type draw, you either love her and want to watch every fight, or hate her and watch every fight hoping to see her lose.

That's a really good comparison, polarizing figure. She also seems to reach different demographics than the typical UFC event, she is huge for women's sports and culture.

I'd compare her more to Mayweather since she's undefeated.

I'm liking the card this weekend. The main card is solid, and Cruckshank, Sergio Pettis, and Cejudo are on the prelims as well.

This card is awesome, Two title fights, Brown vs Hendricks will be crazy, Reem vs Big Country.

Anyone else pulling for RDA? I've never been much of a Pettis fan (the person not the fighter). Really hoping Brown pulls it off too, would love to see him get a title shot. Everyone was shocked Lawler is a UFC champ, can't imagine the reactions is Matt Brown wins the belt. Just shows how close everyone is in the division without GSP.

Also - couldn't care less about the women's straw weight division. It wouldn't bother me if the UFC cut the men's fly weight and women's straw weight division.

I like RDA, he has improved a ton over the last few years. Pettis is special, he's an incredible talent. I think the way to beat him is to get in his face and outbox him, take away his space and range. Not sure if RDA can do that or not but he will make it a fight.

Men's flyweight I 100% agree.

I am willing to give the women's strawweight a little time to develop, but I imagine I will eventually not care for it either. Realistically women's divisions are different. Size of women wise, I would say women's bantamweight is on par with men's LHW (145 lb women are about the 'biggest' women in shape out there). Therefore strawweight would therefore compare to welterweight, best athletes of women just like WW are on average the best athletic men (combination of athleticism and power).

I would totally agree already without even seeing it that women's atomweight (105) would be too small like men's flyweight.

They could announce tomorrow that men's flyweight is being done away with and I wouldn't care at all.

Women's Strawweight I say give it some time to see if it goes the same way.

Why do weight classes matter? A good fight is a good fight regardless of weight class.

Well - outside of Rousey, i'm not interested in the women's division at all. If she retired I probably wouldn't watch another woman's fight. I don't watch women's basketball or softball for the same reason I don't watch women fight, does nothing for me. I think the talent pool is really small in the women's division and it's not interesting to me.

Regarding the lighter men, I'm just not that interested. There aren't any interesting fights to me at 125. I think Dodson is the only one who might be able to beat Johnson so until that fight happens I'm just not into their fights. I think 135 is even shallower than 125 right now. If their fights are on a free card or prelims i'll watch, but they're definitely not fights I'm going out of my way to tune in for. Same goes with heavyweight. Cain has brought that division to a crawl by being hurt all the time.

I'm a fan of the 145 to 205 divisions. Those divisions have the most fighters I'd tune in to watch regardless if they're fighting for the belt or not. They're all deep weight classes with well known talented fighters. Comparing it to football, I'd watch Den vs GB because it has great odds of being a good game. Cleveland vs Tennessee could be a great game too, but I'm not tuning in to find out. That's how i feel about the lighter guys.
