That was crazy, Rousey with an unreal nasty armbar, she is just a complete different level. Cat didn't give herself a chance though, very silly mistake.

Zingano is off her rocker. Very strange interview after a stupid strategy. Sounded like she was claiming she really didn't tap, which she clearly did.

Not a single girl in the UFC rolls through that TD by Zigano right into an armbar, except Rousey. Holy crap what a beautiful transition and holy crap what a retarded strategy by Zigano.

What Rousey did was amazing. Rousey is amazing. I'd like to see the division get a lot deeper. Nobody is even close to her level. Part of that is credit to her talent, the other part is due to the division being weak and thin as well.

Rousey outdid herself once again, beating her own record. There is basically no one left for Rousey to fight that could make an interesting match. She has beaten everyone that many considered as her biggest threats. I guess until Cyborg makes it to Bantamweight, there will be no exciting match for Ronda moving Forward. Cyborg or Carano please..

Carano will get owned IMO. I don't think Cyborg wins either. Rousey's clinch/judo skills are so good that it doesn't matter what anyone else does. Once she gets a hold of someone it's over.jasonnorin;1709332 wrote:Rousey outdid herself once again, beating her own record. I didn't see Cyborg's last few fights, so no idea how she looks these days especially if the is truly clean. But, Cyborg has great BJJ, and is at least as fast and strong as Ronda. She also has better striking. If she can fight smart, and keep it standing she can beat Ronda for sure. You just can't get excited vs. Ronda and charge her and create scrambles. Tate and Cat have both fallen into that trap now.Raw Dawgin' it;1709337 wrote:Carano will get owned IMO. I don't think Cyborg wins either. I don't care how good your striking is, she will grab you and she will throw you. Great BJJ or not, Cyborg will get judo thrown and will spend a lot of time keeping her arms to herself.Zoltan;1709358 wrote:I didn't see Cyborg's last few fights, so no idea how she looks these days especially if the is truly clean. I'm not convinced she just can throw Cyborg, who is super strong and has good wrestling. Either way, we 100% need to see this fight and find out.Raw Dawgin' it;1709363 wrote:I don't care how good your striking is, she will grab you and she will throw you. I'm convinced she could throw pretty much anyone on the UFC roster. I think Cyborg is the only woman who might make Ronda worth betting on though. If Ronda opens at a 2 or 3 to 1, definitely worth putting money on her.Zoltan;1709381 wrote:I'm not convinced she just can throw Cyborg, who is super strong and has good wrestling. Olympic level judo....not someone who is just a blackbelt from some no name gym.Zoltan;1709381 wrote:I'm not convinced she just can throw Cyborg, who is super strong and has good wrestling. Either way, we 100% need to see this fight and find out.
She can throw Cyborg. Cyborg's chance is off her back in this fight or get Ronda hurt before Ronda gets ahold of her.
Once Ronda has a hold of her the fight will go to the ground.
2 years ago I would have said that Cyborg would beat RR. But now I say no way. Now that she is not juicing (or at least as much) and to be quite honest she doesn't look as good as she used to (her competition now sucks donkey balls now that the UFC has a 135 lb division), I would say that Ronda would finish her, just not in the first round. Once those roid muscles get tired in the 3rd/4th Ronda would finish her.

There is a major difference between throwing someone in a judo match and in an MMA match. People in judo are actively engaging in the clinch with you, and not playing defense 100%. Sort of like it's not easy for a really high level BJJ black belt to submit someone who's only goal is to not get submitted.
Plenty of high level Judo males in the UFC past and present who couldn't really throw anyone because the other men had basic skills, were allowed to strike, and weren't totally outmatched for size and strength. We will see though, it's a fascinating match up. Cyborg being off the roids is a HUGE factor. Ronda could easily win (by armbar most likely), but I don't see her bullying cyborg to the ground at all, unless Cyborg does something stupid like Cat/Miesha tried.

Akiyama and Parisyan disagree with you. They are probably the two best male Judokas ever in the UFC and they throw/threw whoever in their primes.Zoltan;1709421 wrote:There is a major difference between throwing someone in a judo match and in an MMA match. Look at the best wrestlers in the UFC, if they want you on the ground they will get you there regardless of what kind of defense you are playing. No one was stopping GSP from getting a TD except for a 2xNCAA champion in Johnny Hendricks.
There almost wasn't anyone that Karo didn't throw.
This isn't defending the wrestlers single or double with a sprawl. Defending clinch throws is so foreign to most that it takes much more training than just a good sprawl and a whizzer.

Akiyama was throwing people around to the tune of a 2-4 UFC record. Karo was 8-5, but most of his wins were long before people started wising up all around training. (Note: this is not dissimilar to current womens MMA talent, which is pretty awful.) These guys might have landed a throw or two, but could hardly throw anyone they wanted.jmog;1709465 wrote:Akiyama and Parisyan disagree with you. The best wrestlers struggle to get people down ALL THE TIME. Kos was spamming take downs at Ellenberger this weekend with no success. Cormier couldn't get Jones down. Hendricks can't take Lawler down. Joe Warren has struggled to get takedowns. Yoel Romero was out-wrestled by Ronny Markes IMO. If you are just using wrestling or Judo in MMA, it's not easy to get top level guys down.
GSP has MMA wrestling, and was able to duck under strikes with unprecedented skill. He used it to set up his striking and vice versa. If you wan to argue that Ronda will out strike cyborg to set up her Judo, or use the Judo to set up her striking that makes much more sense. She isn't going to just grab a bigger/stronger/defense savvy Cyborg and take her flying.

I'll give Cyborg one thing, she is extremely strong for a woman. I saw training footage of Tito Ortiz getting her in an arm bar from his back and hse picked his 230 pound ass up to about shoulder height and slammed him, it was nuts.

Akiyama's and Karo's records have nothing to do with the statements I made. Karo most certainly did throw about anyone, and please don't act like he was doing this before people were cross training different disciplines. He wasn't fighting in Royce Gracie's time. His UFC fights include DH Kim, Thiago Alves, Ryo Chonan, Fickett, Diego Sanchez, Matt Serra, Chris Lytle, Nick Diaz, GSP, etc.Zoltan;1709468 wrote:Akiyama was throwing people around to the tune of a 2-4 UFC record. That is hardly a list of 1 dimensional fighters. He threw most of them.
The best wrestlers typically only get stuffed by fellow wrestlers. Kos by Ellenberger, Cormier by Jones, Hendricks vs Lawler, etc. All fellow wrestlers who had been wrestling since they were 5.
That is why wrestling is easier to counter in MMA (slightly) than Judo. There are MANY more fighters that have been wrestling most of their lives than there are judokas that have been in Judo since they were kids.
Now, show me a Greco-Roman wrestler against Ronda....oh wait, they don't have GR for women yet, just Freestyle.
I can nearly guarantee that the fight would end up on the ground unless Cyborg KO'd her before they really got clinched. Once it is on the ground it would become whose ground game is better.
This would be the first fighter who could really say their ground game is as good or better than Ronda's. That's where it gets interesting.

False, as impressive as it was that she picked him up at all, they were about 18" off the ground, not even close to shoulder height.
It was extremely impressive to pick up a 230lb man at all though, I will give you that.
