Never said Slice wasn't a joke. All I said was UFC missed a major attraction in signing Slice and Brock at the same time. Put them on a PPV and it would've been the top buy...maybe ever. UFC should have been the first MMA organization to sign Slice. Slice signed with EliteXC in 2007, Lesnar shortly after in 2008. This was at the height of Slice's YouTube popularity and the major rumors of Lesnar going MMA.Raw Dawgin' it;1686653 wrote:Slice was a joke - he went through TUF and got beat up. Brock had a DIV-1 wrestling background and is beyond athletically gifted. He also fought outside the UFC before being signed. Punk has zero background in fighting.
It would've been a major card. People would've watched it. It had the potential to be massive.
It does factor in. But it doesn't really factor in with people who take a year off, win 1 out of last 4 fights, and come in overweight/unfit. Why should someone get MORE pay for that? Oh, because you won a good fight 4 years ago? Meh...I don't buy that one bit.robj55;1686742 wrote:Also, I'm not saying that seniority with the company should mean everything, I'm saying that it should factor in somehow. When Nate signed the contract he was top 5 in the world, you're telling me that someone who is top 5 in the world at what they do should be making 30/30? No way.

Give me an example where that factors in then. Again, the contract was signed two years ago before the Ben Henderson title fight. What happened this week has no bearing on the terms of the contract.OSH;1686748 wrote:Never said Slice wasn't a joke. I actually agree that he "should" make more than 30/30, but him, his agent, and the UFC came to an agreement. Maybe he gets a HUGE ppv/viewership (on Fox cards) bonus compared to other fighters? That would be a valid reason to sign a 30/30 for him since his is a "big draw".robj55;1686742 wrote:Also, I'm not saying that seniority with the company should mean everything, I'm saying that it should factor in somehow. The PPV/viewership bonuses are not publicized, so who knows how much he really makes per fight from the UFC.
Shoot, I think his brother's contract is one of the few (percentage wise) in the UFC that has no win bonus, its just $200k to show. Although I am SURE he has PPV bonus money in there.

I doubt he is getting any type of bonus like that because he probably wouldn't be complaining if he did, impossible to know for sure though. I bet he makes more on sponsors than he does on fight purse. I'm sure Nick get's PPV points.jmog;1686758 wrote:I actually agree that he "should" make more than 30/30, but him, his agent, and the UFC came to an agreement. Like I've said though, Nate has helped dig his own hole, now he needs to start climbing out of it.

Then he should honor the terms of his contract and be a responsible employee/fighter. Maybe that affects every contract he signs? If he doesn't like them, don't sign them.robj55;1686749 wrote:Give me an example where that factors in then. Again, the contract was signed two years ago before the Ben Henderson title fight. He could probably get hired at McDonald's somewhere if he needs money bad enough.

I don't understand him complaining about a contract that him and his agent signed and agreed to. I DEFINITELY don't understand someone outside of the situation (you) complaining about a contract that HE and HIS AGENT agreed to?robj55;1686761 wrote:I doubt he is getting any type of bonus like that because he probably wouldn't be complaining if he did, impossible to know for sure though. If he was worth more, don't you think his agent would have got him more?

I really don't feel like arguing this anymore lol but they told him he could renegotiate the deal at any time and they lied about it. You're right the best thing he can do now is fight the deal out, win some fights and maybe some performance bonuses and then go from there.OSH;1686763 wrote:Then he should honor the terms of his contract and be a responsible employee/fighter. If you know anything about Mike Kogan he is an idiot. Again that is Nate's fault that he hired him to work his deal for him.jmog;1686777 wrote:I don't understand him complaining about a contract that him and his agent signed and agreed to. Would be interesting to see the evidence in this case.

I wonder if some fighters are scared to attach their names.

Also - I hope Cerrone gets a title shot after this win. I know they're giving it to RDA, but if Cerrone wins I'd like to see him against Pettis again.

I am really curious to see the evidence the fighters have, because I haven't seen anything that looks bad for the UFC. If anything comes out of this, it won't be good for fight fans. This age right now, where almost all of the best fighters are in the UFC fighting each other is really good for fans. I dread a day where it gets splintered, and we cannot get the good match ups the fans want.robj55;1686793 wrote:http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/12/16/7405055/jon-fitch-nate-quarry-and-cung-le-file-class-action-lawsuit-against

I agree, the current "set up" is better than when half the top fighters were in Pride and half were in the UFC.Zoltan;1686936 wrote:I am really curious to see the evidence the fighters have, because I haven't seen anything that looks bad for the UFC. Currently we don't have any "Liddell or Wanderlei" type questions, we know who the best in the world is.

Seems like a must win for both guys if they want a title shot, especially Lyoto.robj55;1687916 wrote:I don't think anyone does, but he has improved a ton over the last few years.

Most certainly agree but this is not a good matchup for him. If he wins though what a huge boost to his status.robj55;1687916 wrote:I don't think anyone does, but he has improved a ton over the last few years.

I think it means more for CB. Lyoto has been at the top for a long time now, we know what he can do and he is getting older. CB wins this and he gets put into elite territory immediately and title contention, somewhere he has never been in his career. Huge test for him.Raw Dawgin' it;1687933 wrote:Seems like a must win for both guys if they want a title shot, especially Lyoto.

One of the most brutal body kicks I've ever seen, Lyoto just smoked CB, absolutely nasty.
