W
onder who will fill the spot, or perhaps just move Lyoto Machida vs Ryan Bader to the main event, wouldn't mind seeing that one as a 5 rounder.

Ever since they implemented the insurance policy, everyone pulls out. I understand it, at that high of a level you are fighting for your lively hood. Every win means more money, bigger exposure and job security. If you come in hurt and lose, no one cares that you were hurt, they will only remember that you lost. Keeps you from moving up the ladder and making more money, there is so much to lose.

Good point - i wish mayhem had pulled out. If he had two good legs he would've beat CB imo

More than likely he would have, but these guys have tremendous pride. He probably felt like he could dominate even with the injury. It sucks that so many guys are pulling out with injuries but I see where they are coming from with so much to lose. MMA is a sport where there is always going to be injuries with the way these guys train everyday, luckily there is a tremendous amount of depth and they always come through with great match ups and fights at the end of the day.

Shogun Rua vs Brandon Vera gets the Main Card slot for UFC on Fox 4 in place of Stann and Lombard. Not sure the fight really makes sense but it will be exciting.

Shogun should honestly decimate Vera. People seem to think he sucks since he lost to Bones and Hendo but he was hurt against Bones (no denying it although I don't think it would have changed the outcome, maybe just extended it a round or two) and the fight with Hendo was maybe the best one ever.

Shogun is on the down slide imo, been in a lot of wars and his knees are shot. He's still young though and should finish Vera.

I don't see Shogun having much of a problem with Vera.

Agreed, but I think that's why fights like this aren't as bad as the internet makes it sound. Kind of like Randy towards the end who actually fought Vera as well. Put him up against good fighters but not really have any intentions of a title run, that's if Shogun actually is on the down slide. I think that way makes more sense than getting knocked out 2324 times in a row or something.

Yeah I agree with what you're saying. This is good for his resume and hopefully after he wins(if) they can set up the Rampage Jackson rematch as Quinton's farewell fight.

I'm pulling for McCall, i actually thought he won the first fight. Who's everyone got for the headliner?

I had McCall winning the first and third rounds as well in the first fight. I look for him to finish the job this time. there are some pretty good match ups up and down this card, not a ton of big names but should be some competitive fights.

Hell of a Main Card tonight, Prelims were a little lackluster. Some nasty KO's and Erick Silva looks like a phenom, explosive. Another close fight between Might Mouse and Uncle Creepy.

Aldo is out now - this sucks. Hearing rumors Anderson might pull out of his fight too. Champs at 135, 145, 170, and possibly 185 are hurt. The 155 champ might as well be hurt since it's a rematch that's holding up the division. So many injuries lately with few title implication fights are killing my interest right now. I just don't expect expected match ups to happen.

Honestly, who gives a fuck about Silva vs Franklin II? The winner gets no where. Faber for the interim belt against a relatively unknown. The 170 division is the worst - contenders are just beating each other up while Condit waits...and waits...and waits some more. 155 is just as bad with the waiting and so is 185. If Silva pulls out who will Sonnen fight that anyone would give a crap about?

Just frustrated with the UFC lately - can't help injuries, but i'm just curious how hurt these guys are that they're pulling out all the time.

I'm disappointed too, these cards are getting switched around so much it's ridiculous but what can you do? It's been a rough year so far with injuries but I'm optimistic things will turn around. I heard that Anderson did in fact hurt his knee but it's not serious enough to keep him out.

What sucks is if Sonnen wins i bet there is an immediate rematch - lets hold up ANOTHER division. I honestly hate immediate rematches.

Yeah they need to move on with some of these fights, 155 has been nothing but rematches over the last few years. If the guy is good enough he will get back to the top within a few fights.

Case and point - Cain Velasquez. Seriously, 155 has been at a stand still since BJ was champ. Bendo has only been the 3rd guy to fight for that belt since 2010, that's ridiculous.

What pisses me off most is condit - you're the champ until GSP is 100%, so defend your belt. Why wait? GSP will just come back and be your next "challenger." If you can't beat Kampmann and Hendricks you don't deserve to fight GSP. It's so stupid.

Ever since they've gone to this more card format there have been so many more change ups. I don't mind the free fights on FOX, but the FX and Fuel cards seem so unnecessary to me.

I wouldn't mind them doing less cards and just absolutely loading them top to bottom. I understand Condit wants another big money fight with GSP, but they need to keep these stars busier. A lot of the big name guys are only fighting every 6-8 months when it should be every 3-5 provided they are healthy. Like for me, I'm a huge Machida fan, but ever since he won the belt he only fights every 8 months or so and it pisses me off, he is in the prime of his career and is hardly ever injured.

Machida is in purgatory - no one is clamoring to see anyone rematch jon jones. If i were him i'd lay low too until Jones jumps to HW.

Condit is the "champ" so he'll still make bank fighting. I doubt 1 fight against gsp would be more than 2 interm title fights. He is in good position to negotiate how much he'd get from PPV buys etc etc/

I just think the UFC is a little stale right now. The fact that strikeforce still had guys like Rockhold, Melendez, and Kennedy is annoying to me. Either send cut fighters from the UFC to fight them or bring them over. Obviously there is a ton of behind the scenes I don't know but if you can afford these guys, buy them out and put them in your organization. Especially the guys at 185 - after sonnen who's left? Bisping? fuck that, Stann? no. Lombard is the newest face and I wouldn't be surprised in Boetsch knocked him out.

The Strikeforce guys are locked up thanks to showtime until the end of the year, but I would expect the stars to be brought over when that contract is up. That new infusion of talent will be huge for the UFC. The staleness comes from the lack of huge fights right now due to injuries, hopefully this is just coincidence and from here on out things will improve. As for Machida, he just needs to be active and rack some wins up, problem is, is that no one wants to fight him really, Henderson turned down a fight with him, thankfully Bader stepped up. He's a tough match up for anyone I just want to see him fight every 4-5 months or so instead of every 8 like he is now. MW is getting better and is better than it ever has been imo, similar to HW. You also have up and comers like Belcher, Munoz and Weidman, I think there are plenty of contenders for now just depends on what happens with this Silva/Sonnen fight. You have to think that if Sonnen wins barely that Anderson would get a rematch which would further log jam the division. The big problem to me right now is that the Champs are fighting far too infrequently. GSP has been out since last April, Anderson hasn't fought since last August, Cruz has been out since last fall, Junior only fighting every 6 or 7 months due to injury or whatever reason, 155 with rematch after rematch. They have to get these champions fighting more than once a year or so, that's what people want to see. They want to see the best fight and they want to see new up and coming contenders have a chance to win a belt.
