Franklin has been out for a long time, but the first fight between them was really good.

Anyone else glad Jon Jones pleased guilty? He's the UFC golden boy so they won't do anything to discipline him, say just a $1,000 fine. That's like me giving a $1.

1. Jones made a huge dumb mistake/made a horrible choice/whatever you want to call it.
2. He is darn lucky no one was hurt.
3. There is no excuse for what he did, and as far as I know he hasn't tried to give one.
4. I do not believe that the UFC has ever 'punished' any other fighter for getting in trouble with the law, which should they do anything different with Jones? Maybe Jesse Taylor, but that is the only time I can think of the UFC punishing a fighter.
5. Why should his fine be any different than yours? Should traffic/criminal fines be different for rich people now? Kind of like a progressive tax system but just for criminal fines?

:)

ha was just saying $1,000 is not a deterrent to him. I think the UFC should do something extra because he is a champion, role model, and spokes person.

I don't like him - but i believe because of his status he should have harsher punishments.

I don't believe in harsher punishments just because of "status". I think that is retarded.

Should the UFC punish him? Maybe/maybe not. The UFC never punished Diaz for smoking weed (even before his prescription), and other than Jesse Taylor have no precedent in punishing fighters for legal troubles.

Make no mistake, Jones is an idiot for what he did and he will have to deal with his legal problems. However, I don't see why he should get 'more' punishment than any other fighter.

I just think if you're "the face" of a brand you should be held to higher standards. The company has more to lose with Jonses screwing up than they do someone like Diaz or Taylor. The UFC sponsors him - they need to show they don't condone what he did. IMO.

You mean like DWhite calling him to the "principle's office" which you know will be a 'bitch fest'?

Also, I don't necessarily disagree with being held to higher standards, I mean I've had to deal with that most of my life in different respects. I just am not sure that high standards necessarily means tougher consequences. Those are two different things. One implies stricter set of 'rules' the other implies stricter punishments.

Kenny Florian retires. I like his chances of success in life after fighting.

Holy shit! I've always felt that Kampmann was one of the more underrated fighters in the UFC. He lost a BS decision to Diego, was outclassed in a close fight on the mat with Jake Shields, and got knocked out on the feet basically by Paul Daley who hits like a truck. He is hard to put away, another huge comeback off of the one against Alves. Ellenberger is a tank though and he will be back, he had a ton of hype.

Yeah great last fight but I think the offical gave kampmann more leeway to recover then Ellenberger.

Overall it was a very weak season.

Btw the officials were terrible tonight

It was just announced today that on September 7th the UFC is going to be in Indianapolis. It will be one of the free cards on FX.

So, not being a PPV it might not have the best card ever, but there is nothing like seeing them live. I will most likely be going since Indianapolis is only about a 4 hour drive.

I don't want to see Hendricks vs Kampmann, i want to see a re-match of Condit and Kampmann. It was a split decision, so let them settle it for a shot at GSP.

Honestly i don't see anyone beating GSP if he's 100% healthy. He transitions so well from stand ups to take downs that guys get antsy the take down is coming then get beat up on the feet and just when they think it's going to stay standing he puts them on the mat. Condit, Hendricks, and Kampmann all have good ground games but I don't think they're good enough to keep the fight standing. As much as I'd like to see GSP lose, i don't think it'll happen anytime soon.

This is all dependent on if he's healthy though - Condits best shot is right now since he's coming off an injury.

Not sure why Rory would want that fight, given that BJ has one win in his last five. That said, Rory's matchups haven't made any sense as they have gotten weaker (Diaz, Pyle, Mills) since his loss to Condit, even though he crushed them all.

The division is backed up since GSP is hurt and Condit won't defend his "belt." BJ is a legend and if he wins it shows he's still in the mix. For Rory, he has a chance to be the one most likely retire BJ Penn. Also, who wouldn't want that feather in their cap? On the way out or not I'd love to say i beat BJ Penn

Rory calling out a guy he will have 30 pounds on, sounds about right. Go back to LW BJ, please.
