I look at the divisions and their overall competition ranking like this...

LHW
LW
WW
HW
FW
MW
BW

I put BW at the bottom for 2 reasons, I honestly don't know as much about the division but there seems to only be a couple really top tier guys (Cruz, Faber, etc) and then after that its dead. No offense to them, but sorry, 135 is just more like a woman's size division, there aren't many extremely athletic (when it comes to contact type sports) men that size.

I mean look at realistically the smallest decent players in the major sports.

MLB-David Eckstein (and some others) 5'6" 170 lbs
NFL-Darren Sproles 5'6" 190 lbs
NBA-Earl Boykins 5'5" 135 lbs (ok, got one there ;) )

The point is that there just aren't many excellent male athletes at 135.
Disagree here.

Man, Guida did everything he could to avoid that fight. The best strikes he landed were those shoulder bumps in full guard lol

If you count soccer as a contact sport, then there is one. The problem with most contact sports is they don't have weightclasses and smaller guys, no matter how athletic they are, at a huge disadvantage just by being small. NFL and NBA are prime examples of this. I think there are plenty of super athletic small guys, and as the sport grows around the world this will prove true.

You dont see extreme athletic Bantamweight people in other sports becuase they would have to compete against extremely athletic people who are bigger. Just becuase they are small does not mean they cant be extremely athletic it just means they cant compete with someone who is bigger and equally athletic. Your arguement is dumb. If boxing didnt have weight classes would manny pacquiao not be considered athletic because he couldnt beat a Klitschko brother. To play in the NBA sometimes being tall is more important then being athletic ie. Shawn Bradley. You can be athletic and be anysize but being extremely athletic may not get you to the pros sometimes its just good genes ie. Height and Build. The 135lb weight class is full of good fighters just go back and watch some of the old wec fights.

Any sport that has weight classes. Wrestling, boxing, etc. Soccer (I will only include this as a contact sport for people who consider basketball to be a contact sport because if you consider one to be you must also consider the other) also has many people who are great athletes that are smaller. Hell look at Messi.

And you said there aren't many extremely athletic men that size. Which is just stupid. Does athletic now = large?

Not at all, what I meant was that even assuming there are equal percentages of great athletes no matter weight there are still far less athletic 135 lb men than 185 lb men because there are far fewed 135 lb men in general.

Maybe thats more clear as to what I meant.

You just need to watch more 135lb fights and you wont say that. The average weight in the world for a man is 165lbs worldwide so by your logic the heavyweight class should also have a bunch of unathletic people as well due to there being less people that size.

I have been watching BW's for years, and you just made my point, look at probably the 2 divisions that has the least depth...BW and HW.

Granted, HW has more depth now than it ever has in the UFC, but still compared to LW, WW, and LHW (MW is on par with HW) it has far less depth than the other weight classes and really always has.

Top to bottom in the UFC, the HW division has always been the weakest depth wise. I am NOT saying that there are not athletic HWs and BWs, I am just saying its a numbers game, there are fewer athletic men those sizes.

VERY nice, Cung Le isn't elite in my opinion but you can't say the guy isn't dynamic and exciting.

I love this!

Jmog, Le isn't elite due to the fact that he hasn't fought in the UFC and wasn't known (still isn't until he came onto Strikeforce). Dude has some skills and his sweeps and kicks are flat out nasty. This will be an interesting matchup.

Oh I agree, I love watching Cung Le, his only issue is that he hasn't fought top tier competition and he is getting older.

I love his "takedowns" or standing sweeps/throws as well as his kicks.
