His heart may have been somewhere else last night but this wasn't the first fight that I have felt like he wasn't there.

Would Silva vs Jones be the biggest UFC event of all time regardless of the rest of the card?

Yeah I read that and you can't really blame him, no wonder he said he wasn't having a good time in Brazil.The_Crosby_Show;875703 wrote:Yep. His heart was with his family last night, not in the octagon.

I think GSP vs Silva would be bigger, both men have had dominant runs through there divisions and are the 2 most recognized names in MMA. I really don't wan't to see Silva vs Jones yet, Jones hasn't even defended his belt once yet and that weight class is murderer's row.bradmaynard;875818 wrote:Would Silva vs Jones be the biggest UFC event of all time regardless of the rest of the card?

It would be huge. I'd buy the ppv just on that fight alone.bradmaynard;875818 wrote:Would Silva vs Jones be the biggest UFC event of all time regardless of the rest of the card?

As long as Rampage's wrestling is on point he has a chance standing, I think he's a bit too slow now to catch Jones but it wouldn't surprise me.bigdaddy2003;875833 wrote:This. I'm actually thinking he loses next month.

Ok let me rephrase this. If Jones picks Rampage apart wouldn't it make sense to throw Silva at him in a non title catch weight fight? I mean if you buy in to the hype on this kid (I do) and realize Silva is 36 this could be the best chance we have at seeing it. I know I don't give GSP enough respect in this debate but realistically IF Jones destroys Rampage, wouldn't it be a lot more fun for everyone?

No. Jones isn't a big name yet, and hasn't defended his belt once. Also, he keeps running away from Rashad.bradmaynard;875818 wrote:Would Silva vs Jones be the biggest UFC event of all time regardless of the rest of the card?
GSP/Silva
Brock/Cain II
Cain/Overeem
Brock/Overeem
These fights are bigger.

I don't think the UFC want's to potentially ruin this young super star. They want to build him up and let him fight at 205 before he eventually moves up to heavyweight. I would love to see that fight but I think Bones is too big for Silva and I don't think the fight makes sense right now. But Dana is known for giving the fan's what they want.bradmaynard;875937 wrote:Ok let me rephrase this. For the longest time I was on the GSP vs. Silva bandwagon...however, after seeing each of their last 2 or 3 fights, I really don't think it would be that interesting. I think Silva would DOMINATE that fight. The reach alone would be a huge advantage. (I'm not saying that because I like Silva, because I can't stand the guy, but I just don't think it would be that great.)
On a somewhat side note...I think that GSP will be losing his next fight anyways...which would make it less interesting. The only reason it would be interesting is because of their current streaks.
However, don't get me wrong...UFC would get a HUGE draw for GSP vs. Silva.
Although I think it would be less of a draw, I think that Jones vs. Silva would be a much, much better fight. One in which I think that Jones could actually win. I agree with some of the above posts though and think it is too early. Maybe in early 2013 or something.
I read an article on MMAJunkie talking about these matchups and I agree with the idea that Silva needs to move up to Light Heavy Weight and face someone like Rua for a top contender fight and then get the shot at Jones...if he is still champ at that time. And if not, then maybe have the winner of the Rue/Silva fight take Jones on for Top Contender. Just my opinion though.

I agree with Silva/GSP. But Brock/Cain II does nothing for me as the first match looked so one sided. I think Overeem is so over rated its not even funny. He has one good win vs Belfort in a fight where belfort was fighting up in weight. Overeem has not looked impressive his last few fights. I would actually put Cain/JDS above the other three as well.No. Jones isn't a big name yet, and hasn't defended his belt once. Also, he keeps running away from Rashad.

Also Jones name is already big. You don't become a title holder in argueably the toughest division as an unknown. He is quickly becoming the most marketable face in the UFC.

I think Brock/Cain 2 would be way more competitive if Brock doesn't come out and blow his wad like last time.sportchampps;876932 wrote:I agree with Silva/GSP. i love watching brock dont get me wrong but he wins his fights based on his natural talents. his wrestling is great but his boxing is average at best. until brock goes somewhere to learn to use his hands to their full potential he wont be able to compete with cain.
