Reddit Founder Alexis Ohanian on CNBC: "Why is it that when Republicans and Democrats need to solve the budget and the deficit, there's deadlock, but when Hollywood lobbyists pay them $94 million dollars to write legislation, people from both sides of the aisle line up to co-sponsor it?"
I've called my reps already even though I was on hold forever. This bill eventually be the fall of the internet as we know it. What's even sadder is that the companies that are pushing for this are the ones who gave out the tools to download illegally.

They've taken some of the teeth out of the legislation already in the past few days haven't they?

Lol @ the MPAA thinking that a blackout is a gimmick. Its actually a protest, designed to raise awareness against a bill that threatens our free speech

I've literally met zero people who support any of these bills. They are terrible.

I will vote out any person in my district who not only supports the bill but is not vehemently against it.

I get the blackout thing, but is it really necessary? These bills are so terrible that find it hard to believe that there is a legitimate chance of passing. There would literally be riots everywhere.

And who uses Wikipedia for shit like that to begin with? I can't think of one person who uses it for anything deeper than quick information on a topic that comes up in conversation.

I think they are. The lobbying for these bills by the industry is probably enough to get the bill passed. You'd be surprised at how many people I know that have no idea idea what SOPA is or why it is bad. The 24 hour inconvenience may just enough to get this bill to fail.

There are a ton of Senators that are listed as co-sponsors, and a ton of money in support, so I'd say there is some legitimacy: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legislators_who_support_SOPA_or_PIPA

This. For example if I forget exactly what the normal blood sugar levels are after a meal in a healthy person I check Wiki because its FAST.

But for my thesis I'm writing on diabetic neuropathy, all of my citations are from the NE Journal of medicine and PubMed.

Both are considered research. I'm not going to go out and run my own studies to figure this out, I don't have the time nor the $$$$.

I can't see any of these Senators or Reps getting re-elected if this passes and the OC goes out of business.

I use wikipedia. It can help give an idea of what's going on with the topic and then you can use the source links to get to citeable research/articles.

Just kidding. SOPA/PIPA in their current forms are dumb. People need to rethink their structure.

If this chick was not Kate Middleton's sister, no one would have a ******* clue as to who she is. She's cute/good looking, but she's not THAT hott (some would have you believe she's model material).
