That's really the issue too. No one is going to say they went to a shitty school unless they have some irrational vendetta against it. I had someone on here try telling that Akron was a good place to go for an MBA. Sorry, nothing against Akron, but no one is changing the world with a MBA from Akron.

It's all marketing, and marketing is bullshit.

I probably should have noted you'll find very few people willing to admit that pubicly. This statement will be only the second time I've ever heard anyone bash their alma mater. This does not include the "Oh Ohio U is a shitty school but they have a good journalism program and that's what I majored in" :rolleyes: Right.

Also, journalism is a terrible degree.

Well that's the whole issue with your argument. It's a subjective thing. If someone went to akron, and their life is going great for them, why wouldn't that be the best choice for their college? Why wouldn't they like that school?

No, its subjective right now. I'm saying there needs to be a way to make it objective. Subjectivity brings about too much bias in archaic institutions that have no incentive to do any better because they already have the preconceived notion that they are a top 10 or whatever Uni.

Ohio U is awesome because I went there. This is according to LAWS OF HERETIC v4, ch545 -- which states that anything I do and anywhere I go has to be considered better than anything and anywhere else in the multiverse at any given time.

EDIT: However, since I'm no longer at Ohio U, it could have declined greatly in its time A.H. (After Heretic). It's hard to tell, because if I went to Athens to investigate, the place would immediately get awesome again due to my arrival.

And chances are they don't really like Akron, they just couldn't get in anywhere else. They will tell you otherwise, but its all bullshit and is just a deflection from having to face the mediocrity of their life.

Eh, I personally don't give a shit where someone goes. Nor do I care what makes a university great. Why does it even matter? I think OU is better than OSU for the fact that a. the campus looks a lot better b. i'd rather deal with athen's crack heads than thug ass ghetto douchebags at OSU and c. the drinking life/party life is way better than OSU.

None of those things matter to me. I only care about academics.

This would be hard to do as the ranking would have to be done by what program the student is in, school they chose to go to, as well as what kind of student/worker/person they are as all those things can very much change how much someone earns or how successful they are.

Say a school focuses on music and a large percentage of their students end up playing in great orchestras. They would probably still have a lower average salary than a business focused school that puts out middling executives.

And sleeper, I know this is probably just an attempt for your to quantify your opinion that OSU is the greatest school ever so you probably will ignore anything that would suggest that may not be true. It's a school that like many others has some excellent programs and some not so great ones. YSU has some good programs and some that aren't good. One of my good friends is actually doing graduate school through Cambridge and working at M&G Investments and he went to YSU. It's all about who you are and what you do while in school.

But it still holds that a student that barely graduates from OSU or YSU or pretty much anywhere will likely not make as much as a person just scrapping by at Harvard. Does that have to do with the academic quality or the prestige involved with such a degree? I don't think you can prove that objectively.

Does this really exist? I'd think if you could get an interview, you have just as much chance at the job as a Kent, Toledo or Akron grad as you would as a OSU, UM or Northwestern grad if you impress with the interview. It's not where you go, it's what you get out of it.

Yes I do own a McDonalds franchise. It takes very little work on my end and generates a little cash on the side.

I have another, much higher paying job at the moment.
