I mentioned it on the Browns/Steelers thread but I'm really starting to like this D-Line rotation with the return of Taylor & Rubin. They seems to be getting much better at stuffing the run. A stud/thumper LB and the run D should be solid.

I think Richardson said they had to hide his helmet during the game (wanted to go back in).

Listening to Shurmur's post game presser he sounded like Weeden would be fine but he still has to pass the concussion tests.

That would be pretty clever, if there were actually a Big 12 title game.

Hopefully Weeden can play this week. It's definitely a winnable game, even though we always seem to struggle out there.

Raiders have pretty much mailed it in, defensively. Believe they are in the bottom 5 in both run & pass defense. They gave up a shit ton of yards to the kid from Tampa. T-Rich could have a nice day. That means they'll probably pitch a shutout against us. :( Palmer is actually playing decent.

Poll: Are the Browns 5-8 in 2 weeks (Oak and KC)?

They should be as both teams are terrible, but this is the Browns, we manage to lose one of them right?

Probably. I never pencil in "should wins" against any team. How'd that work out for us against Buffalo & Indy? :(

I don't think you can ever say the Browns "should" win a road game at this point.

[h=5]Terry Pluto
[/h][h=5]This email on the Browns from Richard Aronson makes great points:

Terry,
Browns went into a game yesterday against the best defense in football. They have been beating the heck out of offenses all year. In the last 5 games leading up to the Browns matchup here's how opposing QB's did...

Dalton QBR-56.4
RG3 QBR-72.8
Manning QBR-41.1
Cassell QBR-46.6
Flacco QBR- 75.5

They've given up an average of 91 yards on the ground/game and 256 total yards per game.

The Steelers needed this game badly. VERY badly.

We started 4 rookies and 2 second year players. Although I cannot document this as fact, I believe no team has placed that much youth on a starting offensive unit in the modern era.

After looking at all the posts on the site a casual observer would probably assume that the Browns offense got crushed by this defensive powerhouse.

They would be wrong.

We rushed for 108 yards. And we basically shut the offense down once Weeden got hurt.

Weeden's QBR of 78.7 was 20 points higher than the average QBR for the past 5 Steeler opponents.

We converted 5 meaningful turnovers into 4 scoring drives. (The last 3 turnovers came at a time in the game when were just running out the clock and not attempting to run any offense)

Did we blow them out of the water? Of course not. But to say we got destroyed is a joke.

Considering our youth and inexperience, I was really proud of how we held up yesterday. Just ask Dalton, RG3, Manning and Flacco how easy it is to move the ball on the Steelers.

The Ravens could only muster a punt return TD against the Steelers defense. Not saying the Browns offense is a "juggernaut" but they didn't fare too poorly considering they were facing the #1 defense (top five against run & pass).

Did they have short fields to work with? Sure, but they still scored. If the offense was so bad, the Browns would've only scored FG's.

The Squeelers turned it over EIGHT times..and we only scored 20 points. That's bad, no matter how bad you want to spin it.

A win's a win and considering those were the first TD's the Browns offense has scored against Pittsburgh in THREE games, I'll take it.

agreed. When the other team turns the ball over 8 times and the game still comes down to the end, that isnt good.

Maybe Haslem should keep Shurmur for this win.. I mean we did score and he is the playcaller. /sarcasm

Yeah, because this roster is chock full of veterans who have "been there, done that" for years on offense.

Irrelevant information there. You have entered the spin zone!

Not at all, Chuck Booms. If the offense is SO bad, they don't score AT ALL against the #1 defense in the NFL, short field or not.

I am probably being a bit picky here, but was anybody else a bit frustrated with the defensive play calling. They put absolutely no pressure on the third string QB. It was beyond me why on long yardage situations they would just sit back. It was a very conservative game for Jauron, and honestly could have bit them in the ass. It's def not a gameplan they should go thru if Rapistberger is playing. Call me crazy, but I think the Browns could have had a couple more takeaways if they put the pressure on Batch.

Listening to the postgame show on the radio they were raving about Sheard and how "disruptive" he was. Really? He ended up facing a 3rd string right tackle when Mike Adams went down and really did nothing.

The only pressure I saw was Taylor's sack and I saw Jaqua Parker flush Batch from the pocket once. If Batch had any accuracy/arm strength, he had a lot of time to pick that secondary apart.

Good point. I was pretty pissed they werent taking advantage of a 3rd string tackle being out there.

In a situation like that they may have had a TE or a RB chip/help out on Sheard but there's still no excuse for the other guys not applying pressure.
