I had mentioned him in the past, but he wouldn't have been viable to the regime either because he was 28 years old and would have cost alot of money.BR1986FB;1290339 wrote:They did supposedly want to get Pierre Garcon & Josh Morgan but they were too pricy.
If they were going to spend on a FA, I would've preferred they went on the defensive side of the ball and went after Finnegan (CB-Rams). That guy has given the Rams D a whole new identity.
Just all goes towards the idea the regime put arbitrary self imposed hand-cuffs on themselves because they wouldn't think outside their own little boxes.
Whether it was free agency, the idea of adjusting the system to fit the talent (rather than forcing square pegs into a round hole), they bizarrely have seemed more interested in being "right" than winning games since they got here. Just doesn't make sense.

Except he doesn't cost a lot of money. He's due $7 mil over 4 yrs, thats pretty damn cheap for a starting QB. I think some backups make more than that.IggyPride00;1290373 wrote:I had mentioned him in the past, but he wouldn't have been viable to the regime either because he was 28 years old and would have cost alot of money.

Right, because starting Weeden sure has paid off so far. I woke up this morning, and the Browns are the only team in the league without a win.BR1986FB;1290397 wrote:Sounds like quite a bit of the fanbase when discussing the QB situation.

My comment makes plenty of sense. There are those who would rather see Weeden fail miserably so they can be "right" than see this team win. And even though you're a McCoy lover, it wasn't directed at you. Just what I've noticed since yesterday's loss.Pick6;1290412 wrote:You referenced "fan base", so whether it was to me or about me, your comment didnt make any sense.

I know you're implying me..but my stance this entire time has been that I would love to see Weeden turn into Tom Brady...I'm rooting for the guy, obviously. I just don't, and have never thought, he would be any good. And that is certainly turning out to be true.
Browns fans are so used to god awful QB's, that Weeden makes a good throw once in 4 throws, and think he's going to be good. Just because he's an average QB doesn't mean we should be settling for average QBs, even with our past QB history.

Guys, for those that havent watched Cleveland 95, its on youtube. I highly suggest it, and point it to any dipshit that argues in favor of Scumbag POS modell. Watching this now, pisses me off even more. Fuck that scumbag.

Yeah that doc was really good...considering I was only 6 years old, it really gave me a new appreciation to how big of a POS Modell is.
Hope he's rotting in hell right now.

Too many people are obsessed with his age.BR1986FB;1290397 wrote:Sounds like quite a bit of the fanbase when discussing the QB situation.
If he was 23 right now instead of soon to be 29 there wouldn't be quite the amount of hate towards him for what he has done so far.
This year was always going to be a learning year, with the hope that next year it all kicks in for him. He will be 30. Still young enough to give us 5-6 really good years if he is the guy, which is more than enough for me if it means winning football.
Listening to some of the fans you'd think he has an expiration date on him like he goes bad at 30 so this year had to be a title contending year. It is irrational.
If he was 33-34 already it would be one thing to be worrying about, but there have been enough NFL Qb's that didn't really get started having success until they were almost 30 that I know there is plenty of time for him to accomplish a good bit in Cleveland if he continues to show improvement.

Agree completely. With that age, among many fans, comes the assumption that he won't go through rookie growing pains.IggyPride00;1290581 wrote:Too many people are obsessed with his age.

Just unrealistic expectations. Seems like in some peoples eyes he's the reason that the defense is giving up 28 ppg too.
BTW...regarding that 28 ppg? This, so far, is the worst defense since the return in 1999 (statistically on pace for).

Joe Haden makes that much of a difference, IMO. Everybody having to "bump up" a guy really exposes us because they arent good enough. If only the D could play like the did against Phili..BR1986FB;1290594 wrote:Agree completely. With that age, among many fans, comes the assumption that he won't go through rookie growing pains.

Bradshaw's numbers actually surprised me. They had been playing good run D since week 2 (gave up 100+ to Shady in week 1).Pick6;1290614 wrote:Joe Haden makes that much of a difference, IMO. Speaking of Haden, does his appeal not make sense? This should have been treated as a "substance abuse" case versus the "performance enhancer" case it was. Either way, stupid on his part but his defense did have a legit beef. I doubt people are taking Adderall to improve their strength...

I don't have any sympathy for Haden....you have to know not to put anything in your body without discussing it with your agent or doctor...or whatever. These athletes are fucking idiots....plain and simple.BR1986FB;1290625 wrote:Bradshaw's numbers actually surprised me. They had been playing good run D since week 2 (gave up 100+ to Shady in week 1).

Doesn't matter that's he's 29, only thing that matters is the years of beatings he takes. Kurt Warner did it older than most QBs because he was bagging groceries instead of playing football for a few years. The INTs are expected for a rookie, at least we move the ball like an nfl offense. If the coaching staff just hands the ball off on 3rd and 1 instead of giving a rookie QB a two reciever option were probably all feeling a little better today.

Yep, totally agree. People are bitching about the rookie QB throwing interceptions, and I'll be the first to admit it sucks, but as you mentioned...."moving the ball like an NFL offense." Consider the option of starting the other QB and being lucky to get field goals? At least Weeden is giving us something to watch, for now. I expect more & more improvement.bases_loaded;1290926 wrote: The INTs are expected for a rookie, at least we move the ball like an nfl offense.
The one thing you can say about him, like him or not, he's good for the lulz (trapped under a flag and then a double pass).

I'll take this offense over the offenses we've been watching the past 4 years...
